My 6 year old boy just got a TRU gift card for his birthday, so this is perfect timing, thanks OP! He loves the Lego games, so I'm sure that'll be one of his selections, which of the others would you recommend for a 6yr old?

I can only say Donkey Kong is hard for veteran gamers.

The Animal Crossing games are very easygoing and stimulate creativity, if that sounds like something he'd like, but there is a lot of (fairly basic) reading involved.

New Yoshi's Island is a more traditional game and should be fun for a kid around that age too. I'd say both are good bets!

I enjoyed what I played of it, but I got a little tired of it after a while. if I put movie time into it, I could see waiting the whole thing. it's a Mario game afterall.

Got Luigi's Mansion and Shovel Knight.

Had my eyes on Luigi's Mansion for a while now. Have everything else that is worth getting except for maybe animal crossing: home designer. But I haven't even played animal crossing: new leaf yet which has been my shelf for over a year now.

just about every Nintendo 3ds game is suitable for children except a few horror ones.

Tomodachi is a friend simulator, you make them with your mii and they do what they want.

Animal Crossing New Leaf is a Life Simulator, you get a character, you get a town, you make the town better.

Happy Home Designer IMO is terrible. You follow a theme and you unlock items. The actually making the houses look nice is just for you. Once your child figures that out, it's just a hopeless grind.

IMO if your child isn't already into Zelda. Should just start the process haha.
