** We would like to welcome HawiianDawn as the new OP **.

Please thank
thelahaiesfamil for all of her hard work in this thread.**

Being a military spouse has its many challenges. One of the challenges is trying to feed your family on a limited income. I thought it would be helpful to the many of us SD'rs out there that are military or military spouses to have an official Deca/ Commissary thread. There are so many great deals and YMMV by store, but at least here you may be able to look for a deal that you might not have known about before. I HTH someone save a little for thier family!! Enjoy! Smilie

IMPORTANT COUPONING INFO:
Subject = ScotchBrite Coupon

Message
Hi.
I accessed your website and found a $1 off any one product coupon that
expires June 30, 2010. I tried to use the coupon today and was told the coupon is
"fraudulent." However, I found it on your website.
Are you not honoring the coupon you posted?
It certainly is embarrassing to have someone tell me the coupon I got from
a manufacturer's website is fraudulent.
Thanks,
XXXX XXXX

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting 3M regarding our Scotch-Brite(TM) internet printed
coupons.

It is up to the retailers as to which coupons they will accept. This is
still an active coupon. We suggest you try another retailer.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Best Regards,

Colleen

Patron Comments: I was told I could not use my Scotch-Brite coupons at the
XXXX AFB commissary because the coupons are fraudulent. The coupons were
obtained from: http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure...nailsaver/
The current coupon is:
http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure...coupon.pdf The
coupon available when I printed my coupons was the same coupon, except it
was for $1 off one product. Can you tell me what is fraudulent about these
coupons? Is 3m not honoring them? It certainly is embarrassing to be accused
of trying to use fraudulent coupons when I got the coupons from the
manufacturer's website. Thank you

Dear Ms. XXX

Thank you for accessing the Defense Commissary Agency's web site with your
concern. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the XXX
Commissary.

I cannot tell you why the commissary did not accept your coupon; when a
commissary informs you a coupon is counterfeit, we expect them to be able to
show you the notice. I researched the counterfeit coupon alerts we have
provided to the commissaries and did not find one for Scotch-Brite brand
products.

I am copying Ms. xxxx, Scott Store Director, on this e-mail. I
suggest you contact her at xxx-xxx-xxxx to set up an appointment to meet
with her on your next visit to discuss the specifics of your coupon and the
items presented for purchase.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to address this issue. I encourage
you to continue to take advantage of your commissary benefit and the 30
percent plus overall savings. If you need assistance in the future, please
do not hesitate to contact Ms. xxxx or any member of her management
staff.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxxx

Walgreens RR CAN be used at the Commissary, see below:

Ms. Lxxxxx,

I don't see anything in the fine print limiting redemption to Walgreen’s,
although naturally they want you to use it there since the promotional money
is being provided for their company! So, yes, the commissary can accept
this.

I am still amazed that even after all of the complaints (mine included), my commissary still doesn't get the "good" coupons. Ranting

They claim the vendors just don't come here.

I shop at Ft. Leavenworth, they very rarely have any good coupons. For whatever reason, the only place the p&g is is at the px, and it seems to get there very late in the month. I met the vendor, nice older lady who says the commissary won't let her put it there. The commissary claims it's p&g's fault. Don't know who's fault, just takes forever to find, always too late.

I haven't been much in ages. They've been doing a remodel for over a year. I never know what will be a mess when I get there. I went right after the sequestration because of some expiring coupons. You had to go down a really narrow long hallway to get to the frozen and dairy area. No coupons anywhere. Meh. Only two cashiers. Long lines. I've found I need to use full service checkout with coupons. The ladies that handle the self-check read the coupons twice and take forever to scan them. My laptop died and I had to get another one, just realized I was missing this thread.
Glad to see it back!

I haven't been shopping there for quite some time, but I would still miss it....
Before they were talking about how it would be more costly to provide subsidies to the military families to shop other places than to just run the commissary. Now, it looks like they aren't even talking about subsidies. Granted, it is run with appropriated funds... but it always was.

I thought the commissaries were required to be self-sufficient that is why we pay the 5% surcharge on purchases..................

The commissary is basically run with appropriated funds (i.e. tax dollars) so the commissary doesn't need to generate a profit to cover overhead (i.e. salaries, utilities, etc.). In fact, the commissary isn't allowed to make a profit. They are supposed to sell things at cost (allowing for transportation and a certain amount of spoilage). The 5% surcharge is supposed to be spent on building type stuff (i.e. new commissaries, updating existing facilities...).

AAFES is self-sufficient. But the commissary is not.

Expired food on shelves, crappy fruit & veggies and higher prices have kept us away except when we use RR.

I am totally against the I.D. scanning thing but since we only go to use RR, I put up with it. But now with this newly made up rule, that the directors are misinterpreting, we will probably stop going for good.

Deca Facebook as of Dec 15 states they are still good. I thing the individual stores are making up their own rules again.

See FB its not only happpening to me

I feel your pain as far as the prices. I went today and was shocked ... SHOCKED!!!! ... by the price of cereal, Kraft mac 'n cheese, canned pineapple, OM bacon, Oreos...... EEK!

I was pointing things out to my husband and saying "I can get this cheaper at this place and that cheaper at another store, etc." Crazy The only good things I saw was single Yoplait yogurt is still .45 a cup and my store had STACKS of December P&G inserts. They haven't had the P&G inserts in over 6 months.

I need Deca Contact info. My store isnt gonna budge. They said the new policy says that since the RR states "good on your next order" that its a store coupon and they can no longer accept it.

My store says they spoke with headquarters this morning and was told that that is the new policy and they would show me a copy.

I am not on the same side of town as the base so I wont be able to see that new note for a few days.

I prefer to contact Deca myself but need a tried and true contact that wont make me jump thru hoops to get correct information

eta: nvmnd I found a contact form and used all of my allotted 2000 letter count. I will let you know what I hear
