FreedomPop is offering their
  • Free-for-life 200 VOIP min/500 VOIP txt/200Mb+ data per month (on AT&T and T-Mobile)
  • PLUS a free selfie stick
  • PLUS a free power bank
all for $1 to those willing to sign up for a 1 month free trial of their Global Unlimited Talk, Text & 1GB high-speed data + Premier Service Plan.

After you've enrolled, Freedompop will send you a selfie stick, power bank, and pre-activated Global GSM 3-in-1 SIM that you can use in any unlocked GSM phone to enjoy free 200 VOIP min talk / 500 VOIP txt / 200Mb+ data each and every month. You may cancel the trial at any time by downgrading both the premium plan and the premium data service to the free (200 VOIP min/500 VOIP txt/200Mb+ data) plan and service.

By not downgrading you are electing to keep the Global Unlimited Talk-and-Text Plan & 1GB HSPA+ data service for which you will be charged $27.98 at the beginning of your next subscription period and every month going forward. Once again, you can opt to cancel both the premium plan and service and downgrade to the 100% Free 200/500/200+ Basic Plan at any time.

What you get:
Pre-activated Global GSM 3-in-1 SIM with setup instructions, shipped free
Unlimited Talk & Text w/ 1GB HSPA+ data plan enabled free for the first month, then $19.99/month unless/until cancelled
FreedomPop Premium Plus service enabled free for the first month, then $7.99/month unless/until cancelled.

Note that automatic top-up using the credit card you register with Freedompop is enabled by default. Disabling automatic top-up requires a manual top-up of $5.

If you missed this very popular +228 Front Page deal from last week, this is another chance to get it.

Compatible only with unlocked GSM phones (the kind typically used in the US for AT&T and T-Mobile)

Update: For an additional $1 you can get the above deal plus a selfie stick.

Does this work on Windows?
FreedomPop data service will work on Windows phones, but Android and Apple devices running Android 4.0+ and iOS 7.0+ are needed to take advantage of the additional VOIP talk and text

How do I get even more free data every month?
You can get an additional 500MB of data for free each month to the primary device in each account with a one-time addition of Friends from this thread

If I signed up for a paid plan or trial, how do I downgrade it?
You can downgrade your plans/trials directly from your FreedomPop account page.

Customer Support: You can contact Freedompop
Global Features:
Use your phone around the world
Free talk, text, and data in over 25 countries with more to be added
Also Free Global Free 100 Plan: 100 International Minutes from US to anywhere.

Other notable features:
No contracts or commitments
Free unlimited calling & texting between FreedomPop Phones
High Speed HSPA+ and Nationwide 3G
WiFi calling and texting from anywhere
Get a new phone number or keep your own
Sim ships activated. Just pop it into your phone to begin using.

-----------------------------------------
BE CAREFUL OF HOW THE FREEDOMPOP CREDIT BALANCE WORKS. If you "top up" credit on your account Freedompop De-Activates any credit balance after 30 days. If you use just 1 of your last 100 mb freedompop will charge you $15.00 to put credit on our account. This has been my experience for all of my SIM card purchases. fantastic84
-----------------------------------------

(1)
When setting up FreedomPop account, use a sexy female name.
(preferably one that makes you sound like a dumb pretty blonde...
no offense intended)

(2)
follow all the above direction correctly and downgrade to the free plan

(3)
Add as many Freedom Friends emails as you can find. (either from
the Slickdeals Freedom Friends thread or any of the other long lists
from those two other forums)

(4)
during the first day of each billing cycle, log into your account and ask
all of those friends to share 50mb of data. (don't ask for 100mb as that
will put off a lot of people)

(5)
wait a few days and watch your account top up to at least 1000mb of free
data allowance.

(6)
repeat the above steps for each of your FreedomPop SIM cards.. you did get
at least 5 to 10 SIM cards during the 99-cent deals, right? Smilie !

Please don't flame me... but I've been doing that for months and always have
at least 1000mb at the beginning of each billing cycle. Just make sure you
follow (1) and select a female name. The majority of FreedomPop users are
males and they respond very well to sharing requests from female names
only. (had almost no luck when using male names)

How to become a FreedomPop master:

- Switch to the free plan using the steps below. You'll get 200MB for free each month.
- Get a free 500MB bonus to your plan using "FreedomPop Friends". You only need to add 10 friends and you're done. The 500MB bonus will repeat each month (no need to add new friends). Get friends here: https://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends
- If you go over your data limit (700MB in this case), an "Automatic Top-up" will kick in and $15 will be charged to your card.
- You can disable "Automatic Top-up" using the instructions below, but you'll need to buy a $5 credit. This credit will stay on your account.
- If you have less than a $2 credit remaining, data usage will also be stopped 100MB before your data limit to protect against usage reporting delays.

How to downgrade to the free plan:
- Once the device ships, login to your account (your initial password is in the welcome email)
- Click "My Account > Plans". Look for the tiny "Details and Plan Management" link near your current plan.
- Look for the tiny "downgrade" link near the bottom. Click through the messages until you get confirmation that you have downgraded.
- Next, go to "My Account > Services". Click the small "View Details" link near your current services.
- At the very bottom of the page, look for the tiny "deactivate" link. Again, click through the messages until you receive confirmation that it is disabled.

Optional: Disable Automatic Top-Up (this kicks in when you go over your data limit)
- Click "Billing > Billing Settings"
- Click "Edit" near Automatic Top-up. This will charge your credit card for a $5 credit that will stay on your account. You can use it for possible future overage charges.

I'm fine with using FreedomPop on a spare Android phone..

The only thing that I really hate is that the FreedomPop SIM card, which is UK-based,
caused a lot of apps to think that I'm in the UK, even if the phone is in airplane mode.
(Google Maps, Google reviews, prices shown in GBP, calendar, etc)

Especially Hangouts, where you have to dial the country code to make calls to US numbers. In the myVegas app, I have a little British flag icon over my character's head, makes for a good icebreaker.

Bond, James Bond? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

As for Hangouts, I have trained myself to always add +1 to every number that I enter. Just annoying when I have to add new numbers, but no biggie.

Long live the Queen. LMAO

This has been extremely frustrating in using Freedompop... I haven't figured out a way on the iPhone yet... I was able to export and batch format all my existing contacts to have the +1 and that made it a little easier...

yeah, the 99c deal appears to have just ended (drats, right when I was about to buy another one for a family member). This one is the same $1.99 they've been offering for weeks. IMO, for the same price their promotion with the battery bank is a better deal. Can never get enough spare juice for travelling. Maybe I'm just not a selfie stick sort of guy.

Meanwhile, so far the cheapest phone I'm finding to use with this is the Verizon Moto E which is $29 at Walmart.com. You need to tweak it to work with GSM radio (not hard to do), the only caveat I've noticed is that tethering does not work with the hacked E. The same freedompop card placed in my Nexus 4 tethers just fine, so its definitely the phone and not the service. Is there anything similar out there worth looking into for a cheap alternative handset in that price range? Something that would work with a freedompop SIM.

Swagbucks nets you $12. $2 in a couple days and $10 after keeping your account active for 3 months. Hurry that offer ends in about 12 hours.
