It's not a quick drive, but it's big. Yet small.

Have you bought it recently, and what speeds are you getting?

These are very quick drives, unless they've cheapened it recently.

I've had mine for a while. It's fine for files here and there, but when I want to move lots of files, I don't use this one.. It's just not a high end drive.

Newegg ratings show 60% rated it 1 egg.

You're still being vague.look around I get 100MB/s+ both read and write with mine. I don't know of any other Flash drive in this price range that can come close to that.

Drop a folder full of small files on it and watch the speeds drop like a rock.

Snarfed from Amazon reviews, because I'm at work:
Sequential Read : 197.193 MB/s
Sequential Write : 104.529 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 151.087 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 32.768 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 4.596 MB/s [ 1122.0 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.110 MB/s [ 26.8 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 5.005 MB/s [ 1221.9 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.085 MB/s [ 20.6 IOPS]

It's not that it's a bad drive (excluding the massive failure rate,) it's just not a FAST drive.

Compare that to something like the Mushkin Enhanced Ventura:

Seq Random read: 417 mb/s
Seq Random write: 440 mb/s

512K Read: 398 mb/s
512K Write: 423 mb/s

4K Read: 23 mb/s
4K Write: 41 mb/s

4K QD32 Read: 150 mb/s
4K QD32 Write: 140 mb/s

The 4k performance on the Mushkin blows the doors off the PNY. The PNY is a cheap drive, with cheap drive performance. The Mushkin drive runs about $1/gb vs. $0.20/gb. It's like a Corolla vs. a Corvette.

Got it, thanks for the details! I use it for copying large files, so did not notice the poor performance with many small files.

Most USB 3.0 flash drives at this price point have pathetic write speeds compared to the PNY. I wonder now, however, whether they have better random 4K speeds than the PNY. Or whether the PNY is still the best that it gets at this price point.

PNY is horrible, even the 8gb drives I got for $1 are barely recognized on my PC. I wouldn't dare purchase a 128gb version. lol

I'm going to post this every time these come up - don't buy these. I had one of these die within a month of purchase. PNY RMA process was a pain in the butt that involved me paying for shipping with tracking required (thank god for the work postage machine). Spend a little more and get a SanDisk or something that's not these cheap PNY drives, please.

From my experience, you have 1 in 4 chance of getting a "good" one.

I am on my 4th one.
#1 works great. Still does.
#2 I took back to Staples since it was within 30 days. The store manager didn't believe me when I told him it was broken. He gave me a new one #3.
#3 I returned to PNY with RMA. It had stopped working within 1-2 months. PNY sent me #4.
#4 is okay but sometimes doesn't get recognized. I don't trust it.

I've been lucky, got 128gb & 256gb PNY's from TigerDirect free after Mcafee rebates and both are fine so far fingers crossed.
