The SweetHome did a chef's knife review [thesweethome.com].

They chose the Wustof Pro Chef's knife [williams-sonoma.com] as their budget pick over the often mentioned Victorinox. With the 20% off coupon, the Wustof is $24.

Got the Santoku last time it was on sale. Great knife, no brainer at this price. I have the 8" chefs knife, so I don't think I really need a 7"

Cheap handle, cheap steel, cheap knife. Thanks for the post, though.

Agree to disagree about the steel - these are the German made ones. If you can explain the difference I stand corrected. Personally I like my Santoku, but admitledly only have had it a short time. The handle is alright and yes the price is "sugested at"

The steel is not highly regarded among knife aficionados. Neither is the brand, though. The difference is edge retention, ease of sharpening, ability to take a thinner edge, heat treatment, hardness, chipiness, etc. Basically, every characteristic that matters.
