Amazon Deal of the Day [amazon.com]
Lulzbot TAZ 5 Desktop 3D Printer [lulzbot.com] with 0.5 mm Nozzle @ Amazon [amazon.com] $1,760.00+tax.
Free standard shipping or Free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime

Regular Price is $2200.00

If you can find it locally, e.g. at Microcenter, they typically will match the price.

The LulzBot TAZ 5 3D Printer [lulzbot.com] is last year's model, but it is very similar to the current TAZ 6 model. Main difference is the TAZ 5 does not have Auto-leveling.

Basically, this 3D printer features

Open software and hardware platform
One of the largest build volumes (11.02 in x 11.02 in x 9.8 in)
Consistently at the top for reviews of consumer level 3D printers
Allows multiple extruders
Can use just about any filament
Is extremely reliable
One-year warranty
One-year customer support

The last time I saw a sale on the TAZ 5 was for $300 off the list of $2200 online around Thanksgiving's Black Friday 2015.

For my money, the print quality, build volume, and warranty do not justify the price.

3D printers are not magic, even in the best conditions, you'll still have to troubleshoot E steps, nozzle temp, first layer problems, etc.

If you have the money and don't want to tinker - get the Taz 6

If you have the money, and don't mind troubleshooting - get something with a bigger build volume like a delta or the large Wanhao

If you don't have the money, and don't mind tinkering, just get a Wanhao Duplicator i3.

The ropey prints my buddy gets from ABS on his Taz 5 are insane. Personally can't see any reason you'd want to spend that much and NOT get a Taz 6 instead
