By clicking Activate, you agree to pay the amount Due Today. Your FreedomPop service will not begin until your device ships. Your subscription includes a 30-day free service trial. ***Friend, Sharing, etc. for more total allotment

Thread on adding "friends": https://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends
Make sure to use "Invite by Email Address" (below Gmail icon).
Beware that "Invite your email contacts" will send e-mail to all your contacts.
"Friend":
An account can be a "friend" with another account, and each account gets 50MB per plan period.
An account can keep getting up to 500MB more data every plan period, as long as the account has up to 10 friends each with a non-deactivated account.

***Sharing:

An account can give/"share" up to 100MB to another account, but only once for the other account in a plan period, after they become "friends" with each other.
For example, after account 1 gives 20MB to account 2, account 1 cannot give more data to account 2 in account 1's same plan period, even though 20MB is less than 100MB. Account 1 can give to account 2 again in account 1's next plan period, even if by then account 2 is still in account 2's same plan period.
An account can receive or give up to a total of 500MB of data, but sharing resets, every plan period.

If you decide to downgrade to the 100% Free and Turn Auto Top-Up off(Required 5$ credit to turn off AutoTop-Up)-

https://t.co/I9bQGqKWl6

The Free Plan is the default plan when downgrading your account. There is no other way to pick this plan. Once downgraded, you will be on the Free Plan.

If you are Interested in changing the Sim to the WhatsApp Basic, you can find the instructions in the post I created to downgrade to the 100% Free Plan(link above).

Freedompop requires one sim per account. Make sure to log out of your current account and than go back to the purchase link using a new email to purchase. Sometimes you have to clean your cache and/or cookies in the browser to do this.

Here is some info on if you leave Auto Top-up enabled-

Overages are paid in Credits of 15.00$ (charged to CC or Debit Card), depending on the plan. The Credit equals to 750/1000 mbs of Data.

Changing the auto top-up settings to (NO) or (DISABLED). You will get a pop up warning! It will ask you for a 5$ credit in order to turn automatic top up off. The 5$ is a credit, just encase you go over the free amount during the 3 hour delay. FreedomPop ask that you keep 5$, in a credit, at all times with Auto top up disabled, Make sure to re-activate your Credit every 30-90 days(see link)

https://support.freedompop.com/ap.../kw/credit

Note: With Auto Top-Up off, your account will suspend when you get close to the allotted data, 2$ worth of data. Only way to reactivate the account, you have to upgrade data plans, or wait till the month expires to the new month.

Global Network Coverage- Supported Countries;

Austria, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium , Germany , Norway, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, UK, Croatia, Hungary, Portugal, USA, Czech Republic, Ireland , Romania, Denmark, Italy, Slovakia, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain.

Using phone in another Country, and you will have Data. Voice and text will still work back and forth from the States. To call locally in the Country you visit, add the Global Free 100 Plan, to receive call from the Country you visit, you will have to add a Global Virtual number for $4.99. Once you have a Active Freedompop account, you can find these deals at, "MY ACCOUNT"->International on the drop down menu.

If you don't pay the $5 to disable auto top-up and the CC on file is no longer valid (e.g. used virtual CC with limit), your account will be suspended once the $15 top-up charge is denied and you will be required to add a valid payment method in order to reinstate your account.

The catch is these guys are the masters of the upsell. You need to read every page with a clickable link very very carefully. Almost anything that looks like a button will commit you to some pay-for service - the free stuff usually looks like an innocuous text link that you wouldn't think to click on.

Very sneaky, but Slickdealers can be sneakier.

Google Voice data usage: 11 MB for a 16 minutes call. The voice quality was very good.

How to become a FreedomPop Pro!

Switch to the free plan using the steps below. You'll get 200MB for free each month.
Get a free 500MB bonus to your plan using "FreedomPop Friends". You only need to add 10 friends and you're done. The 500MB bonus will repeat each month (no need to add new friends). Get friends here: https://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends
If you go over your data limit (700MB with friends), an "Automatic Top-up" will kick in and $15 will be charged to your card.
You can disable "Automatic Top-up" using the instructions below, but you'll need to buy a $5 credit. This credit will stay on your account.
If you have less than a $2 credit remaining, data usage will also be stopped 100MB before your data limit to protect against usage reporting delays.

How to downgrade to the free plan:

Login to your account (your initial password is in the welcome email). If you get stuck at the shipping status screen, you'll need to wait for your device to ship before you can proceed.
Click "My Account > Plans". Look for the tiny "Details and Plan Management" link near your current plan.
Look for the tiny "downgrade" link near the bottom. Click through the messages until you get confirmation that you have downgraded.
Next, go to "My Account > Services". Click the small "View Details" link near your current services.
At the very bottom of the page, look for the tiny "deactivate" link. Again, click through the messages until you receive confirmation that it is disabled.

Optional: Disable Automatic Top-Up (this kicks in when you go over your data limit)

Click "Billing > Billing Settings"
Click "Edit" near Automatic Top-up. This will charge your credit card for a $5 credit that will stay on your account. You can use it for possible future overage charges.
The credit needs reactivated every 30 days under Billing > Overview > Credit Balance tab. You won't lose it if you wait longer than 30 days to reactivate it.
The catch is these guys are the masters of the upsell. You need to read every page with a clickable link very very carefully. It would be better if they increase 200MB to 500MB.

The question is is it actually 200/500/200 or the new plan they're trying to roll out with a bait & switch

But what is the catch. What they are providing costs more than the price paying!!! What they are expecting from us? Or all this is free for first month only?

The Standard Global Phone sim plan is

500 text, 200 voice and 200mbs Data. Most user will add Freedom Friends to get an extra 500 mbs, making it 700 mbs free a month, as long as the 10 friends stay active. I try and make sure each of my accounts have at least 100 friends. Seems having this many friend, I get the free 500 mbs a month, and I often get gifted data out of no where. I have one account that has 700 friends. That account is usually maxed on the gifted data. The Max gifted Data is 500mbs. You can get the Free 200 mbs, the Free 500 mbs"Freedom Friends" each month. Than if you have generous Freedom Friends another 500 mbs. Freedom Friends really come in handy on the Free Plans.

The reason you only get 200 mbs, instead of 500 mbs like the CDMA phones, or devices. GSM data cost a little more. Based on Cost, 200 mbs GSM data cost around the same as 500 mbs CDMA data. But who knows, maybe in the future this will change??

Freedompop only sales the sims with a couple of Trial offers. The first Trial offer is unlimited Talk & Text 1gb Data ($19.99 after the Trail). These Sims also normally come with a Premium Plus Trial ($7.99 after the trial). As long as you make sure to Downgrade the Trial Plan, and The VAS(Value Added Service) plan before the end of the trial, than you wont be charged for the next month. Just don't forget the VAS plan, as this often gets missed. I even created a post on the Freedompop Forum that give the Step by Step instructions-

https://t.co/I9bQGqKWl6

Note: The Free Plan is the default plan when downgrading your account. There is no other way to pick this plan. Once downgraded, you will be on the Free Plan.

.99 cents is a Great Deal. It comes with a Free 2200mAH PowerBank, and Wired Selfie Stick.

Oh nice, signed up and there is now a $30 charge on my card because they added a HTC Desire to my order for no damn reason.

It's never been a problem to opt out of all the gotchas; *however* when you do, this kicks in automatically: "If you have less than a $2 credit remaining, data usage will also be stopped 100MB before your data limit to protect against usage reporting delays." thus removing 100Mb from your data quota.

Sounds so simple in the OP. But it's not just any unlocked GSM, right? You have to get one from them?

Shouldn't have to purchase the device from them. Sim works fine in my backup Amazon fire phone that they were practically giving away last summer Smilie
