Picked one up! I needed it for school, and it's cheaper than the student version. Thanks, OP

Tell me more. I'm really only looking for windows because certain electronics I own don't have mac software or if they do it sucks compared to the windows version. Example Mobius DashCam software to tune it.

https://www.virtualbox.org is free from Oracle and does the same thing. Using Parallels or VMware Fusion might be more familiar if you used it before, and you might have some support. They essentially all three pieces of software do the same thing. They run a virtual PC on top of your existing Apple/Mac. You still need to buy a Windows license, never included.
I am on Parallels already, will buy to upgrade to 12 for convenience.

virtualbox is a free virtual machine from Orcale like Parallel and VMware. Got a chance to try Parallel from works and i have to say it's more user friendly but I have been using Virtualbox for years since college years so I got used to it and it works perfectly as its supposed to

Can I still activite the license if I don't have a CD Drive? I have an active Parallels 11 license in my Parallels account. Can I buy this and upgrade the license in the same account?

Virtual Box is the slowest out of all 3 and has issues with such options as dual monitor support etc. Below is a benchmark article.

https://www.tekrevue.com/2015-vm-...-fusion-8/

Here is a guide to the features differences between the 3

http://lifehacker.com/run-windows...1750474360

I was a parallels 6 - 10 user but their new force upgrade policy and removal of features from standard in order to force users to pay for the pro version made me switch over to vmware.

If you are on a tight budget while needing to learn/work on multiple environments use virtualbox.

Yes, but you need to get the upgrade license for 12 from Parallels

You get what you pay for. I have used VirtualBox, VMware, and Parallels extensively. On the Mac platform, Parallels "just works" and performance is hard to tell the difference between a native machine if you aren't gaming.
