This is a J.A. Henckels International knife. Not a real, German made Zwilling J.A. Henckels, there is a big difference. "International" basically means cheap when it comes to Henckels. These knives are still decent but leave a lot to be desired.

If you want a real, good set of Henckels, get one of the "Twin" logo, made in Germany sets. Those will last you a life time and are amazing.

Ditto. Sorry, Tofu Vic, but the photo on Amazon doesn't show the bad quality of the international series. It's an ok knife, but not the real deal. Check out the Amazon list price and you'll see this is not the $150 knife that gets my mouth watering.

Thank you for the information. I have given you both reputation points.

I noticed the price drop of ~$20 and thought it would be a good deal, especially based on the outstanding customer reviews. I don't know if everyone who is interested in a chef knife would fork over $100+, but the information you two shared definitely is helpful.

I have personally thumbed down this deal, and unless there are drastic discounts, do not plan to post J.A Henckels International knife deals.

Thank you!

TofuV, you're a gentleman and a scholar. (No sexism intended.)

And for those who question the value of investing over a Benjamin in a good 8" chefs knife... I'll gladly take a PM. It makes cooking a pleasure and not a chore, which in turn saves me thousands in restaurant bills when I'd otherwise be too tired to cook. When I see the $4.99/lb sliced raw zucchini in a supermarket, just steps from the 99c unsliced version, I realize just how much people must hate to spend 20 seconds using the knives they have. (I would, too!)

Even a proud cheapskate like me knows when spending money is worth it, even if it's not visible to your otherwise masterful eye (yes, TofuVic, I follow your posts - you're good).
