I'd be leery of that plumber and always order my own parts, lol.
The right thing to do would be to go buy a basic metal surface mount box, an outlet plate, and an outlet... Should be less than $5 or $10... Use the wire heading to your current disposal to terminate into the outlet. Mount the outlet box to the inside back of the cabinet with a couple of screws...

I don't remember with Waste King if they can be hardwired, but for all new kitchen remodels, code wants an outlet under there for the disposal... Even when I deal with disposals that don't have a pigtail (a cord with a plug) I end up adding the pigtail and the outlet... It also makes it easier to add an in line switch for the disposal, like the push-button surface-mount type switch.

In my opinion, It's much easier to put the outlet in than trying to wire to a big 10 pound disposal in place... Neither are all that difficult though...

good deal, seems to go on sale a lot

I need to replace a 1/3 HP badger, but will probably be skipping this due to the chrome flange...

gonna sleep on it I guess

Purchased a Waste King from Amazon 4 years ago. My plumber had never heard of the brand. Works great. Very satisfied with it

This is a good price but it comes up very often. Several years ago, my disposal stuck after a 3 week vacation. I got this one at around the same price. Then I unstuck the old one with the key. I still have not installed the WK one after several years.

Silly question but I don't have a "power outlet" under my sink and my old broken garbage disposal has one of those wires you put together to power it. Is it recommended to just get an extension cord and can I just unplug/plug it back in when wanting to use it? Sorry newb to home improvement stuff

Yeah I'm not sure how to explain it. I guess the right term for it is hard wired after googling it.

I skimmed some of the comments on Amazon and I think someone else asked the same question, and one of the replies was that you could hardwire it also. But I'd contact WasteKing and ask to make sure rather than reply on second hand info.

Still trying to follow. You have a power cable sticking through the wall with no outlet? Then hardwired to your existing disposal?
