I'd jump on one of the Xbox One S deals if it could function as a regular 4k Blu-ray player.

Yes, it's missing function that even a non-4k blu-ray has.

What functions? I thought one of the major features of the Xbox One S is that it has a Blu-ray player capable of playing 4K content. It can also stream 4K content when available (Netflix, Amazon, Youtube).

It doesn't play games in 4K, but it does all video in 4K if the source content is available in 4K

It's missing the audio bitsreaming function which lets your AVR process the HD audio.

The senior director of product management of xbox has communicated that they will be releasing this as a future software update. If you don't believe me, read for yourself - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showp...stcount=31

I saw that before. I'll believe MS when it happens.

Ah, I didn't know if there was more than the audio issue - I'll be watching that but doesn't kill me (but I understand if that's a difference maker for others).

I run a higher-end stereo system since I don't have the money to put into a killer surround system and, while I watch movies, mostly I listen to music and records so I probably won't need surround for that. If I start gaming a lot with this, I'll get a headset (old one is long in the tooth). Thanks for the extra detail @BladeD!
