Just get the full blown micro when it comes around on deal again unless you need the ultra portability of the nano and really if you need something as small the nano your probably better off spending more and getting the chord mojo..... I read on a review somewhere that I tried to find again but couldnt where the ican se amp section is slightly better than the idsd amp section but that doesnt really matter cause AMR/iFi are very conservative on their amps anyway so the difference must be very minimal its all about the dac anyway this dac has very good quality but it has very little decay its very fast and pretty nuetral but its functionality makes it the portable swiss army knife of dacs(total no brainer if you cant shell out for a chord hugo but I've read the idsd blows away the chord hugo in dsd but the hugo wins in pcm too bad most of your listening will be in pcm mode because of the unweildly size of dsd content and its cost because its still a niche market with limited select often drier less popular content(classical, jazz, niche rich persons music) dont expect to get your favorite recent albums or edm tracks in dsd..... which edm might not even sound good in dsd either because its piece meal of different tracks layered on one another and dsd reveals so much you can hear the different air distance(spatial placement) better and the increased detail makes edm sound funny also it seems compared to other lesser dacs the idsd puts the bass in the bass the bass sounds lower fuller and has more punch cheaper dacs like realtek have allot of midbass bloat that can make edm sound more full you always have to get used to new equipment sonically and the idsd has so many features you may have to play with it for awhile to get it to work right also the xbass feature is very reserved if you like a ton of bass you may need to eq it yourself using another app or program the new god audio program on pc is bughead emperor but you will need to get the last version that doesnt require avx2 processor if you dont have a broadwell or skylake and put that exe into the bughead emporer recent install folder and overwrite the current ones the last version that doesnt require avx2 is 7.27 you can find many older versions posted online for download) like the flex 3401vrg is the swiss army knife of buffers and the rupes the scalpel or the new griots long throw the swiss army knife of dacs is the idsd with the standard usb cord it will be power starved i modified it by adding to wires to the power and ground cutting the connector apart soldering in a new usb 2.0 otg connector with thicker wires on the power and ground(you have to still connect the power and ground to the pc wires too already in the cable or the computer wont see the usb(idsd) device and wont send data without power yes this will attach your usb charger to pcs power grid but I havent encountered any overheating but realize even when you turn off your psu switch on your pc your pc is not fully off until you disconnect the idsd usb cable going either to the pc or the usb charger) and soldered a male usb 2.0 and on the other end and plugged it into my bolse 60w usb charger 6 port and it improved the bass and overall sound significantly..... I also made custom wires with occ silver wire and pailiccs connector and bought some splitters cause the idsd is so powerful and coated the interior contacts in audiophile solder only 1 buck shipped from china 76 cents or something and sound way better with the audiophile solder on the interior even on the lowest amp setting the idsd can easily power most low ohm headphones and interconnect to a set of computer speakers at the same time... The way ifi wants you to power the idsd is get the iusb3.0(400$ we need a deal on this too) which has other power cleaning abilities that even supposedly outperforms the Regen which is another usb power supply and hub that cleans up the usb signal and I've been reading that high end usb cables do improve the sound and I'm currently working on my own that im going to shield with aluminum powder.

If im successful next time the idsd micro deal comes around I may post a guide complete with purchase links for all components dont worry im not making any money out of the links most are chinese sellers anyway and I have no affiliation. Also the iRack looks like a good purchase too but a little pricey at 150 but looks amazing and has vibration isolation posts and slots for 3 micro sized components. Out of the reviews I've read looks like the curious usb is the best I wanted to see what guage of silver wire he used I tried thick wire and got corruption(ifi drivers go funny) but I didnt try shielding yet either been busy with so many projects lately havent gotten around to purchasing shielding supplies(I dont have aluminum foil right now either as I dont do much oven cooking anymore either maybe I should just run to grocery store and just test foil but seems like wasted purchase just for that....)

Great deal on the iCan Micro SE. As the previous poster said wait for a deal on the Micro iDSD. It will drive pretty much any headphone out there.

The Nano is a DAC/Amp the fiio is just an amp. The Ican Micro SE is an amp but not portable. So really there all different beasts.

+1

I have it and it's pretty fantastic. It's paired nicely with just about everything I've thrown at it: HD 598's, 600's, 650's, AKG K7XX's, and my Sony MDR-1A's.

Wish I were rich enough to keep all those headphones Frown

The nano is battery operated and the Micro SE is powered with a plugin transformer.

I have Fiio E10k, to power HD600s requires fully 100% turned up , wondering if that means that there's still a little bit more to gain by using a bigger amp like this micro.

The Micro iCan SE will bring new life to your HD600's. You'll have plenty of headroom. Plus the Xbase and 3d are great. It's an amazing amp for the price just remember it's transportable but not portable.
