I know, I know, there are new Apple watches up for pre-order tomorrow with better specs but anyone who is looking or was waiting to grab the 1st gen, Best Buy just slashed all their prices for all of them. WatchOS 3 should make the experience of this watch much better.

Link [bestbuy.com]

Open boxes start at $171.99

Enjoy!

Edit: Looks like the Stainless Steel versions are $249 - Link [bestbuy.com]

not only that.... but the older model is getting a refresh with the same processor that the series 2 is getting. these are going to be dirt cheap in a few weeks.

I've yet to drain my battery in a day. I think the lowest percentage I've been at after a 15 hour day is around 35%.
i disagree - Apple updates their models for everything (just like other companies) regardless of how fast or slow previous generations were. I have this watch with the WatchOS 3 beta and I will tell you that it's snappier and overall a world of a difference comparatively. While I know software has its limitations and limited longevity, i think you can get at least another year out of this watch and spring for Series 3 next year and at this price it's a no brainer if you're trying to save some $

When you mean "pre-order" you just talking about directly from Apple or are other places going to open up pre-orders ?

Is it worth $80 to get the faster processor in the 42mm series 2?

directly from Apple - you can't pre-order the new Apple Watches from anywhere else

According to friends who own one, their chief complaint is the general sluggishness. So take that as you will. Apple wouldn't have bothered to update the older models if they didn't think it was a substantial improvement.
