I'm pretty sure it will hold 2.5 gallons as well.

bpa free?

from the Q & A section of the linked page, YES. But, it's not officially documented anywhere.

Question: is this BPA free?
Answer: This container is made of polyethylene, which is used in high grade food storage and lab containers. Polyethylene is BPA free and is excellent for food and water storage and is resistant to bacteria. I would not use it for long time storage of consumables other than water.

Yes it is. I contacted Coleman and they confirmed that it is BPA free

I had my doubts, so I too called Coleman, today, and they said it was as well. What concerns me is that it is not DOCUMENTED anywhere. It is just verbal assurance, no willingness to put that in writing. You would think, with the frenzy for PBA products, that this would be marketed with such documentation...ah well, … see more

No clue. I would try getting that info from Coleman. I don't use these containers for drinking water anyway.

Why not Walmart?
For me, it's because I might not want to order enough right now to get free shipping, and I will not, without severe duress, ever choose to pick something up in store again.

I do appreciate the link, though - if I had a few things I wanted to get from WalMart right now I'd probably throw these in the cart too, and have it all shipped.

nobody mentioned S&S at all but it's prime only, which is stupid in itself.

I wish it was a 2.5 gallon jug. I need one for camping, but 5 gallons gets pretty heavy, and I'm not doing intense enough camping that I need 5 gallons around.

Sams have it for $6 filled with 4 gallon water.

I use the empty container at Publix to fill water at .30 a gallon. I have a water tester and the number is 002. 000 is perfect with no minerals.

Thanks for all the free commercials.
