And they are on sale again. Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Open Back Headphones for $109 shipped via Newegg Flash (via ClassyU) I got these last week for $99 after using a Customer Care GC. They will be here today via USPS. Grab them here [newegg.com].

Is there a technical reason for manufacturers to make headphones with 250ohm ratings? Keep them from being played too loud and damaged or something?

to support the manufacturers of headphone amps? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

these are not going to be comfortable for people with huge melon heads like mine. Frown but they do sound great when paired with proper headphone amps.

by the way, $109 is only $27 cheaper than the usual price on Amazon.(sold and shipped by Amazon.com)

Well I can say this. I ordered through Newegg on the 8th, was invoiced on the 9th, also received notice of tracking on the 9th, wasn't picked up until the 12th, and was delivered today. The shipping label looks like a standard Priority label other then it has endicia.com under the top barcode which looks like a Global shipping partner company.

They only have 19 + reviews to the 6- on Newegg so they don't have much to say for that in reviews especially being in business since 2014 but I received my item and many others on Reddit have said that they received their DT headphones also from previous deals with them so that's why I overlooked the low reviews.

With that being said I'm opening the box now to check them out and will actually hook them up in about an hour or so to try them.....Will update afterward.

So I've had them just sitting on my head for the last 10 minutes. I can say they aren't as comfortable as my Hyper X Cloud II. The cup padding is a plenty firmer, and the tension against my head is considerably more. I guess for those headbanging sessions....I have no idea why the tension needs to be this much otherwise. Would I want to use them for gaming like many people have used these for...Not a chance. Now for no longer then movie watching or listing to some music for tops 2-2.5hrs sure they would be great. This is actually why I purchased them. Especially since there isn't an inline/attached mic they are useless for me for gaming and after these 10 minutes I wouldn't want them on my head for many hours. I'm sure the tension will relax after some time with them and the cups will probably get a bit softer also.

I'm not even tempted to put on my glasses I should be wearing while at the computer either with how much tension there is and the firmness of the ear cups. Many on Reddit though have stated they are just fine with glasses. So I may have to put mine on when I fire up my game rig to actually try these out with the 600ohm capable soundcard on my MVIIIF.

Higher ohm with a stronger amp can mean faster response more perfect signal its because it makes the sound better assuming you have an extremely clean amp thats the reason and the Beyer 600ohms are better than the 250 and 32 or whatever the other one is I think these headphones were designed at 600ohms and they only offered the others to cater to lower power or portable use but they are a fullsize and kind of ridiculous as portables.... I will only buy 600s of the higher end Beyerdynamics..... 250s this low on deal tho if I know you have a use for them is hard to pass up.

I ordered from uclassy through newegg. Took about a week to get here. The highs are little bright out the box but I've been burning them in for about a week and they're better. They sound really good through tubes. it tames the highs a bit.

Just a heads up...this "classyU" is not an authorized retailer for beyerdynamic products. It won't come with the 2 year warranty. I checked with the manufacturer cause this price is crazy. If you don't mind not getting the warranty, then go for it.
