Thread Details

If you already own BioShock, BioShock 2 or Minerva's Den on Steam, the re-mastered version for the corresponding title will automatically show up in your Steam library as a separate game.

This all kicks off tomorrow, September 15, at 15:00 Pacific time. In other areas of the world, that's:

• 18:00 Eastern
• 23:00 British
• Midnight for most of Europe
• 08:00 the next day in Sydney, Australia

BioShock HD and BioShock 2 HD will show up in your Steam library as separate entries at this time. While that means you'll need to do a significant amount of re-downloading, it does leave the originals still there to be returned to if you feel like some retro 800*600 gaming.

If you have a physical copy instead of a Steam key, you can contact 2K support and the rumor is they'll send you a Steam key. I emailed them yesterday and I'm waiting to hear back. I'll update this when they reply.

http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

This is what they require:

Thank you for contacting 2K Support,

We understand that you would like to migrate your retail copy of BioShock to Steam. In order to be able to assist you, we would need to receive a picture that is showing all of the following :

The Game CD case(s)
The Game CD (If there are multiple, please include each one)
A piece of paper with your steam email address and your ticket number (#) clearly written on it

We will review your request and establish eligibility based on your submission. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

If ever there is anything else related to our 2K titles, please do not hesitate to contact us again!

Games on Steam now. Bioshock (old version) appears to be gone from store. States Buy BioShock™ Remastered Contains both BioShock™ and BioShock™ Remastered!

Unsure what happens if you have Bioshock code not redeemed.

Shows up as Bioshock Remastered [steampowered.com] and Bioshock 2 Remastered [steampowered.com].

Shows up in library automatically if you own older version.

For some reason, I thought I read somewhere that Bioshock Infinite was also to be remastered... is this not the case? Or have people been conflating that idea with the remastering of the other Bioshocks?

nope only 1 & 2. reason being is that it already meets current gen console standards.

I believe the three are being released to consoles as a remastered pack, which is probably why. But yeah, on PC no remaster needed.

Ah ok, that makes sense... it's been a long time since I played the original Bioshock (and I didn't finish it then). I got it back in 2010 and ended up getting the triple pack a year or two ago when it was on sale. Finished Bioshock Infinite in a matter of weeks (on my Macbook Air) and never played Bioshock 2. I need to get a PC or Macbook with decent components and storage lol... especially with these requirements for the remastered versions.

2K came through for me. So if you have an old physical copy, email 2K support and they'll hook you up. Here is the email they sent:

Thank you for your patience.

From the depths of Rapture we were able to get this new Bioshock replacement key:

XXXX

With this replacement key you will be getting back to Rapture and all its beautifully haunting mysteries!

If you aren't already familiar with Steam, Steam is a 'digital distribution platform' which enables you to have digital copies of your games saved on Steam and have them be accessible from any computer (no disc required). As technology progresses, and the second-hand use of PC games being impossible due to CD key protection, PC games are becoming steadily digital-only.

I've taken the liberty of explaining how you will proceed with our CD key, so you may have no doubts whatsoever on the how-to with Steam and codes!

In order to input the code and at the right place I have added a how-to guide below:
•Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.
•Click the Games Menu.
•Choose Activate a Product on Steam...
•Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Here is the link for further information:

If you ever have any other questions or concerns about any 2K games, feel free to contact us again and we'll be glad to help out as best as we can!

Confirmed. I have 1, 2 and Minerva's Den DLC on Steam and the Remastered versions showed up automagically for me Cool

Both the old and new remastered versions show in my library in case anyone was wondering.
