If you're looking for a card with a good sign up offer, this one is great at $500. The 2 miles (actually it's a little more when you factor in the 5% miles back when redeeming) isn't that great though because you need to hit at least 10k to redeem again.

Yes, that's what I did. They also gave me a bonus 1k miles if I used the downgraded card in the next 3 months or something.

How long does a prior cardholder need to have their account closed to be eligible for this?

watch out for barclay cheapo bank, always had Citi and Chase, never had a weird problem like this. Signed up for choice hotels card because 32k points were perfect for my vacation. Signed up for auto pay and somehow didn't go through, I signed on the day after due date to see $27 late fee, $30+ interest, and all 34,000 points gone due to balance not paid on time. Had to call and send email message to get them bank.

Whats the normal bonus for this? Wondering how special this offer is?

Just checked, I signed up 2 months ago with 40000 I think.

Do you think they will match it if I call?
