Went to grab some oil last night and found that Advance Auto has an oil change special that includes 5 QTS Royal Purple Synthetic and a K & N Filter for 37.99. This is a decent deal if you run the higher end oil in your car. If you do normal conventional oil not so much.

I just happened to see a YouTube video last week (BleepinJeep) where he cut open about half a dozen oil filters... I was shocked at how some were absolute crap inside... this was one of them!

Edit: Just my opinion though.

I'm not sure honestly haven't run enough of them. I normally go mobil 1 or Purolator for my domestics and mahler for my German cars.

I agree some can be pretty bad. I used to use Fram till I saw one of those videos. In my opinion though most of the more reputable companies aren't going to sell a product at a premium if the quality is subpar, well to an extent.

Stick with the Royal Purple.

Mobil1 EP is the next grade down. Just about the same construction and definitely the same manufacturer with a bit lesser filter media. With RP oil definitely go high end on the filter.

Buy for extended oil changes.

Never go past 6 months for an oil change, synthetic or not.

I like MANN oil filters for my Audi/VW. And they can be found on the shelf at Advance/Autozone.

I got this a week ago just to let u know

FINE PRINT READS:. Any filter eith a value up to $15.99 (or $14.99). Dont remember well. So any filter when they scan will give u the same discount. I went with K&N Gold version whicj is capable of more than 10k milage

Edit:. Just trying to say. If u prefer mobil 1 EP or any othe r filter the deal will still works.

How is RP motor oil, never used it before. I swear by their gear oil though. I've used it for years.

unmodified PAO with a decent add pack

#1 reason i won't touch it is the unmodified PAO part. stuff has a shrinking / hardening effect on seals

on a street car this level of zddp is going to shorten cat life. on a race car just pony up and use redline

Not true. Oil tech has gone tremendous improvements. My 2000 Honda accord had 7 months by Manual. you can very well judge what it could be today.
