This can be a building block of a gaming Computer. It has 2x PCIe X16 Slots (2nd one @ X4 speed), M.2 Slots for both Sata and PCIe SSD, PCIe X1 Slot for network cards.

This chassis support standard form factor ATX Power supply but a 24 pin to 8 Pin Converter cable needs to be used to connect it to the Dell Motherboard.

For those of you who don't know, Dell changed their model number sequence. What used to be the 90xx series changed with the most recent 70xx models. So, the 9020 successor is the 7040 with on-board dual-monitor support and DDR4 RAM.

Of course, with this particular example they added an AMD card, so the video options are different.

guess the kids get a new minecraft server/pc before black friday.
but mostly you had me at "M.2 with PCIe SSD Support"
appears to have 4 slots - so you can drop 2x8's more in there
$581 delivered [ tax Frown ]
even if swapping the PSU is a PITA down the road for a good GPU
that i7+mobo+M.2+4dimms will be running for years to come.

It has 2 Ram slots, not 4. Since 16GB DDR4 modules are very easily available, you can go up to 32GB with ease.

And these slots are up to 8gb each, so still 32gb, but at 4x8. That's according to the online description.

The final spec sheet says 16gb each is supported. Might need a firmware update for that.

Dell motherboards, IIRC, use proprietary power supplies. I don't know how much an adapter costs or whether its available. 240w is anemic. why is there even an r5 in this? the built in GPU would be just as good.'
eta, sorry didn't see this has already been covered. I'm not a fan of non standard stuff but the price is right for risking it.

Actually you can fill all of them with 16GB modules and get 64GB total.

confirmed now that I have mine - 4 slots - 64GB max - still only rocking 8gb total for now.
runs quiet even under load which is hard to do
only downside today is the mechanical drive but m.2 is on it's way
i am having trouble finding a reason the kids need a better video card
