so maybe I don't understand what this is for but, if this is to expand the number of Ethernet jacks, where is the "Ethernet-in" jack?

any port can be used to uplink to your other switch. maybe you're thinking of the old fashioned hubs which had a port designated as uplink.

I don't even know why this frontpage. Its such a meh deal for a unmanaged switch. It's pretty ugly for a switch compared to the other switches available at this price range (D-link, TP-Link, ZyXEL)

A good price point is $10 for 5-port and $15 for 8-port. If they had metal casings it would have merited the extra couple bucks.
