Seems like a decent price, always wanted a smokerr, I feel like I would buy it but never use it, but my intention is to make my own amazing smoked beef lol

There is also a Digital Version with no window for $5 less. Seems better too as the water pan is above the heating element to control heat a bit.

I got this for $130 on black Friday. Might be worth it to wait. This exact model. It works really well. Just keep adding chips you don't even have to open it. You add them from the side via a turn cylinder. It keeps temp really well. Makes easy pork ribs and I even smoked corned beef once. Sort of turned out like pastrami. It does have a water pan at the bottom.

Correction mines is the digital no windows that's $177. Sorry for the mistake.

Talk about no soul....there's no fire at all with this guy. Not even a propane flame. It's more accurately described as an oven.

That being said, if all you've got is a balcony to work with, I guess this is what you can get away with. But I'd wait for the digital model for less.

A decent price, however, I would wait on this/these. These (Masterbuilt electric digital smokers) generally go down more in price later in the fall/winter. Got one in December 2014 for $129 and another in December 2015 for $150.

Heh. That's because pastrami basically just is smoked corned beef. Granted, there are usually more differences than that -- e.g. different spice blends, dry vs wet cure, professionals often use different cuts -- but at the very basic level, pastrami is just a corned beef that was smoked instead of boiled, braised, or roasted.

OP's is Masterbuilt 20078715 Electric Digital Smoker Front Controller. Are you referring to something "more digital?"

so you understand the concept of smoking? it's usually a smoldering wood burning in a side box. not really flames. if it's flames it's called grilling. this one basically uses slow heat to break muscle and electricity to smolder the wood.

Is this weatherproof? I mean, do you leave it outside or bring it in after use?

It should not be left outside in the rain. When not using mine (red window version of this one), I keep it unplugged under a covered patio with a weather-resistant cover on it.

The available legs and cover are nice upgrades for this. I have them and recommend them. In addition, you can get a smoker box (Cold Smoking Kit) that attaches to it if you don't want to keep adding chips more frequently.

Yeah, it just doesn't look like something that would do well so, thanks for reassuring my original thoughts. I did purchase the cover for it, figured may as well get it as Amazon's price ($16.50) did not look bad.

to get on track with this deal, you can by the older digital 30in model for around 100 bucks near BF, pair it with this

I have a Masterbuilt and love it (the 20070910). I used it a week ago to make pulled pork. Even the veterans over at smokingmeatforums.com recommend it.
