I thought this combination of things may help some people out, since I've been researching how to learn guitar, and found a fortunate combo of items to do just that.

There is a current Frontpage deal on a Peavy Raptor Plus Beginner's Guitar for $79.99 here:

https://slickdeals.net/f/9127219

Amazon has Rocksmith 2014 for XBOX ONE for $31.74 WITH the Real Tone cable needed to connect to the guitar. The real deal is the cable, even without an XBox One, because they're hard to find and $48.50 separately on Amazon. EDIT: Price has been raised now for new, but Amazon Warehouse still has pre-owned with cable for $25.83.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1

There is a recent listing for Rocksmith 2014 for PC that has four thumbs up, but I've found it cheaper at the Humble Bundle Store Sale for $9.99:

https://www.humblebundle.com/stor...14-edition

Also, these versions will be updated by Ubi Soft to Rocksmith REMASTERED on October 4 for free, which will actually sell for $59.99 at retail:

http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmit...index.aspx

TOTAL: $79.99 (guitar), Real Tone cable and Rocksmith Remastered Xbox One ($31.74), Rocksmith Remastered PC (9.99) = $121.72.

Thought this may help some out.

TU for Rocksmith for $9.99. I would have posted that deal alone, and then you could have commented on the other items.

The core game is being updated to the Remastered edition. The six songs that come with the retail version are a paper voucher DLC code you get free with the game:

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread....FAQ-Forums

It's no different than 'preorder' DLC codes for dozens of games every year. That would be like getting confused calling Madden 17 it's name without saying you're not getting the special jersey color DLC from Gamestop or something.

The reason it's important is Rocksmith Remastered retail is replacing the 2014 edition. Which means you'll pay more in the future, for all of six songs. And the MSRP is likely to change to $59.99 as well on Steam, which will also cut it's sales price in the future because it's taking a percentage of a bigger price.

These are the six songs on the voucher, which you can purchase as DLC if you really want as well:

"Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley & The Wailers
"Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley
"Some Nights" by FUN.
"I Want You Back" by Jackson 5
"Hey Ya!" by Outkast
"Drops of Jupiter" by Train

Last holiday season or early in the year they had the PC game and cable for $20 directly from ubisoft. I picked one up as a spare. That was an insanely rare price though.

I think sometimes you can pick up the cable for $20 but $30 for both the game and cable is still a good price.

You may get it at that price. I don't know what Amazon is doing, but they keep lowering the XBox One version with the cable. I purchased it yesterday for $34.79. When I posted this it was down to $31.74. NOW it's down to 28.64! And it was $30.15 while I was even writing this post and refreshed.

No idea what they're doing, but if it goes to $20 I may have to get an extra.

I'm not sure I understand the update. Is it going to replace this 2014 version, making it unusable and individual songs will have to be purchased one by one? I was thinking about getting this for my son, but it's going to a money trap, I don't know now.

I have the game for the 360 with the cable. Can I just use that cable for the PC? I'm also going to assume any dlc I bought for the 360 won't transfer to PC.

I guess the Amazon ninjas were alerted. If it's any consolation, they do have the pre-owned version from Amazon Warehouse still at $25.82, and it includes the cable, so you may want to look at that.

It's not going to make it unusable, basically it's a free update to the main game, and all the songs are still just as compatible. It's just they're getting rid of the 2014 version at retail. It's a little confusing, but basically think of 'Game of the Year' editions of games that come out a year after release and include all the DLC and updates for that game. Except for this, they're just renaming it as well, because 2014 in the title is pretty dated.

Yeah it works with all systems, so it would work on PC. But anything you do on one platform won't transfer to another, except from PS3 to PS4 and 360 to Xbox One.
