I'm not against getting in on this deal, but if you have a regular chromecast you can get a 3.99 dollar hdmi to vga adapter with audio out, that gives you audio out.

I bought 4 chromecast for 9.99 a piece when it was on sale with free video package , lots of us found on Slickdeals a while ago. First generation, not the newer version.

Here is link to the product I bought and tested:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/172284230...EBIDX%3AIT

UPDATE: Although the picture shows RED device, the 4 I got from this vendor were BLACK.

Free shipping and shipped from USA, super fast shipping , got mine from CA to Florida in 3 days.
(You might have to place wire between 2 vga pins, that is not soldered, with wire maybe 1/2 inch long, super simple, if you don't have vga monitor hooked up. I have speakers hooked up around the house to some of my chromecasts with the wire, and 1 hooked up with vga monitor with seperate speakers attached using the audio out from 3.99 adapter. What is nice is if you have old vga small monitors around you can have them near your speaker system ... with the vga monitor hooked up, I keep the monitor off most of the time, but it is nice to see what is going on to check with the monitor on) . It is nice option, I love it. )

This post is just to alert current owners of chromecast to give them audio option, that is what I wanted and researched, or you can get 25 dollar just chromecast AUDIO without option for video. Your choice. Both devices are good and have their uses.

With Chromecast Audio you can stream to multiple units concurrently. Unless somenthing has changed, with the video Chromecast you can only stream to 1 unit at a time
FYI, Spotify doesnt allow streaming via chromecast audio w/o premium account. It does allow streaming via regular chromecast.

For people who still use Discover, you can get a Staples $25 eGiftcard for $20 cash back, making this around $20 + tax for a Chromecast Audio. I just tried it and got two. Staples eCertificates are instantly generated.

Yep. You can group multiple Chromecast Audio and adjust sync. And CA has optical output.

This is correct, you cannot group Chromecast video devices. This is feature makes CA work like Sonos.

I have some very good NEWS for you, if you install Logictech's Media Server (which is free on your PC), and go into plug-ins, you can get all the chromecasts (CV or CA) to work playing the same stream.

I have 2 logictech booms, and my chromecasts (CV) connected at same time throughout my home. Now, many times I will use a couple of chromecasts for video, so I can switch easily from video to audio if I want.

I'm not sure using google apps if you can cast same audio to multiple chromecasts(CV), but Logictech Media server is amazing, and I have been using it for many years and does the job of multicasting same audio stream. Check it out. You might have to research it to get the extra features (all free), and all the radio shows, pandora, and tons of other streaming stuff for audio.

I was just saying if you get chromecast (CV)Video, you can do both video and audio served to you in many interesting ways. Whereas if you just get chromecast (CA) Audio, you are limited. But just Audio might be the best option for some one, not me, but maybe for you.

I'm a little fuzzy on the product, how is this unit better than a standard Bluetooth receiver?

Just a reminder that the new version of chromecast is expected to be released next month.
