Quick way to possibly rack up those Sbux stars...
At my local Starbucks I noticed a buy any merchandise and get 45 stars added to your Sbux rewards account. I tried this yesterday on a whim with one of those $2 plastic cups they sell by the POS register. Lo and behold, I was awarded 49 stars (4 from my drink) and 45 from the cheapo merch purchase. Not sure if this is just a store thing, or a FL thing, or regional thing, or nationwide.
This is also the email response I received when I sent an inquiry about this:
"Let me start off by thanking you for your patience while waiting for a response.
I am truly sorry for the delay. I can confirm that per the prom you will receive 45 bonus stars on all package coffee, tea, merchandise including tumblers, mugs, and brewers. You can use this offer as many items as you would like. If you do not receive you stars within 24 hours of your purchase please let us know and we will correct this error. Thank you so much for your time today. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Must pay with your registered Sbux account. Exp 9/28.
You normally get 2 stars for each $1 you spend. It takes 300 stars to reach Gold level, which is when you start getting perks like free birthday drinks, refills etc. Once you reach Gold level, you get a free drink or food item after every 125 stars earned.
** CORRECTION **
A free drink is given on your birthday regardless of your card status (Gold, Green, etc). All that is required is to get one of those Starbucks prepaid cards, load a little bit of money onto it, and register the card under your name. (There is a $5 minimum load).
You need to spend $150 to reach 300 stars, but if you use this deal you can reach 300 stars by spending $14 (7 $2 purchases). That's a pretty big saving.
To get a free drink, you have to spend $62.50 (125 stars). With this deal, you can get 125 stars for $6. It doesn't make a lot of sense to do that just for a free drink, but it's a great way to get to 125 stars quicker if you're a Starbucks regular.
