File in the "you get what you pay for" bucket Smilie

If you want a genuinely excellent .45 for a great price though you can find one here-

Yes it's more than double the hipoint.

In the same sense a new Toyota is more than double the price of a 30 year old Yugo.

Have you ever shot or owned one?

Ya you do get what you pay for and this thing will shoot anything and shoot it reliably. It won't win any beauty contests but a gun should be reliable, who cares how ugly it is.

I have an xd .40 that's 2.5x as expensive as this and if i had to use a gun in defense id grab my hi point because i know it will fire every single time.

I've shot them quite a few times.

Which is why I don't own one.

I think I've shot maybe 4 or 5 of them total (in a few different calibers)

While all were reliable by the time I got to them at least 2 of those had been back to the factory (one had been twice) before it became that way.

I prefer my firearms to be reliable from the factory, not on their second or third try.

Why do you own a Springfield you don't trust?

If I have a gun that I can't count on, right out of the box, I don't keep it and I buy a better gun.

(and with the internet it's usually easy enough to know if that'll be the case BEFORE you buy the gun, unless it's a brand new model or you're unlucky enough to get a lemon)

Love my xd and i do trust it, i just trust my hipoint to fire every single time no matter what which it has.

For $140 this gun is a great value when comparing it to better looking guns that are 2-3x as expensive.

I'm not talking looks (though yeah this one is ugly).... it's also crazy heavy for what it is- the ergonomics suck... the accessory options suck... the sights suck...the trigger sucks... the capacity sucks...

Yes it'll go bang (though might need a trip or two back to the factory to insure that) but it'll be a pretty inferior experience every time it does compared to a better gun.

There's is a thing such as bang for the buck.

A ~$1000 pistol is usually not 2x better than a ~$500 one (assuming you buy a good example of each... see for example the Sig 226 vs a Beretta 92- and I say that as someone who owns both)

But the 45 I linked to really is several times better to actually own and operate than a hi-point 45... (and the total cash difference is a lot smaller than the sig/beretta example)

(Sig is actually a good example here again- their comparable 45 to the one I recommend is around 2x the price of my suggestion, and actually loses a number of head to head comparison reviews to the cheaper gun- it costs more but is NOT worth it... but upgrading from a hipoint sure is).

While we're at it though.... if money for someone were SO tight they could only afford a hipoint- why the hell are they buying a 45?

9mm is just as effective, only like 10 bucks more for the gun... and much cheaper to buy ammo for.

Well, if a 30 year old yugo is half the price of a new Toyota, that says something about yugo's stick-to-it-iveness (still around) and depreciation (negative depreciation). Jay Leno has one. Shouldn't we all?

An excellent choice for the elderly or disabled with low-income, for when the euthanizers come for you.

I'm not joking.

The 9mm and .380 ACP versions are California-approved.

No need for paragraphs, price is right, useful, cannot find a better home defense weapon for this price.
