Agreed. Heavier than average trail weight is largely due to fiberglass versus aluminum tent poles. But this model is designed as a legitimately functional solo tent with a full coverage rainfly, a rarity at this price point. E-port pass through feature for plug in electrical devices is a bit of a head scratcher for a shelter designed to be carried into the backcountry, but still: a much, much smarter buy than most of the $15-$30 toy tents that pop up here at SD from time to time as "deals".

My only recommendation/question is your title also references a 2 person and implies that's available for $19 too. If so, can you link to it? I'm only seeing the solo tent at your included link and it looks like the 2 person version is selling for $44.74.

This was previously marketed as a 2 person, and I can confirm it can be used such. That was my own 2c I suppose. Best as a solo, but I use it with my young son and it works great. I wouldn't suggest for 2 adults unless you're very... Very comfortable with each other.

Rainfly doesn't appear to cover the front 100% and there is no vestibule if it rains. But the price is good and it gets 4.5 stars on amazon. If you buy it I would suggest waterproofing the tent seams as a precaution.

You should be doing this with any and every tent you buy IMHO. This one took one can of Kiwi Green and mine as been meet with some horrible storms and didn't leak at all. There is indeed no vestibule, and no, the fly doesn't cover the whole thing, but the front door/window can be fully closed. Not 100% ideal but for $19...hell yes.

Again, fantastic tent for the correct expectations, tarp floor means no extra footprint etc.
