I saw them in my local store and they are VERY thin. I think a flannel shirt might be warmer.

I disagree. The material may be thin,. it the filling is mods than sufficient. The one I picked up at Macy's is a higher build quality, but we're comparing a $50 purchase to a now $10. At that price, it's no question it's worth it.
