Too bad the GPU is worthless and the battery last under 4 hours. It has an intel 5200 igpu they might as well have doubled the battery life somehow and removed the dgpu. The screen and warranty are nice, but at least include a thunderbolt port so that you can use a real GPU like Macs do.

Just a heads up if it wasn't already pretty obvious; this is not a gaming laptop.

I'd be happy with Win7, GPU is very week though, I believe its subpar or on par with current integrated opus through Intel

Right, I think the problem is it does nothing well, its essentially a macbook pro 15 at 50% the cost and battery life.

Old tech for 1k is a deal? The Adorama 6700HQ & 950gtx SSD for $800 is a better choice no?

4th gen, otherwise known as "Haswell"

There have been some 5th gen i7's as well, "Broadwell". These are more efficient(14nm) and feature better integrated graphics.

Most laptops like this sold today have sixth gen "Skylake" i7's.

I dunno, for $1000 id want a 6th gen skylake part. 7th gen i7's are not too far away.

Of course this is a "workstation" so battery life is really low on the list of priorities. The CPU in this laptop should be more than adequate for years to come.

Not sure that naming a computer product "Omen" was a smart decision.

Holy crap, does nobody here do anything besides use their computer to play DOTA and surf porn?

This thing doesn't compete with mac's, alienware, or anything else in that category. People who buy this are engineers, designers, and architects. Look up benchmarks of Quadro vs Geforce in CAD applications and you will see why people pay this much for "workstation" hardware.

This is pretty impressive. I've never seen a capable workstation laptop for under $1500. My W530 is about on par with this and it cost me somewhere between $1600-2000 brand new. Plus its a massive textbook that puts the brick in power brick! Hardly fun to carry around for unless I had no choice (which is why I own a surface pro 3 now). To get the same kind of performance in something this thin is killer!

Scroll down to the video benchmarks and see if you recognize any of the apps. If you think this is crap cause its not a MBP or is slower than a Geforce, then you probably won't recognize any of them. This is not a gaming laptop!
