Wish they had $150 or $200 off <$1k for the 9250 . No one wants a 4K @12" if the battery life is less than 3 hours. I hear that the 1080p display at least gets 4 hours solid.

Looks like the refurb XPS is a whopping $70 less than a new one. Amusing.
Meh.

Just curious - realize this is a buried thread. Can you share some examples of what you experienced with the outlet. I'm wondering if the stuff they sell there is B grade that didn't make the QC cut for dell.com or retail.

I know that some people claim that the stuff they got there is the same, but I've gotten two XPS 13s (outlet new) with the same issues. One of the issues is a bad-ish touchpad. I played around with an XPS 13 at costco and the trackpad was fine. Same thing on the other Dells that I played around with at bestbuy. Could it be that there's different grades in the outlet vs. retail/dell.com?

Yep, same here from July. Tired of calling and them calling saying it is pending. Probably just do a chargeback.

(different person): I got two "certified refurbished" XPS 13s from the outlet, and had previously got a brand new XPS 13 (which I returned because I didn't like the touchscreen, and then I discovered the discounts at the outlet). Both the refurbished ones had small issues. First one had a noticeable gap around the trackpad (whereas the new one was a nice tight fit). I was a little concerned about liquid being able to get inside there (but maybe the keyboard is not watertight anyway). The second one has a "loose" trackpad. You can google youtube for a video of this issue; however, I was able to fix do the youtube fix for that (using electrical tape). The second one actually has a small gap around the trackpad too... wasn't as noticable but still not water tight in fact.

Another issue for both refurbs - they had interference from wifi when the lid was closed, and the laptop was connected to an external display via a displayport cable (USB-C adapter). The new one did not have that issue. However, this is resolved by lowering the wifi power to 50% (which I found thanks to google). I also got an Intel wifi card off ebay for $10, which I may install in the future.

All in all, I still think it can be worth it when they have the 35% off sales... but from my experience these are definitely not flawless. I guess Dell stuff in general is not flawless, so the lower quality stuff gets returned, then turned right back around and sold on the outlet (instead of trying to fix any small issues and make them perfect). Although probably there are perfect stuff out there, but just much higher chances to find some issue with it on the outlet. I guess it depends how picky you are.

P.S.: The last laptop I bought before this was a refurb mid-2011 macbook air (purchased from cowboom in early 2012) ... and I never found a single flaw in it.

Bought an XPS 15 last week. Reasonable price for amazing specs. Looks fantastic. Unfortunately, the laptop makes crackling/popping noises when it warms up. 15 min chat with tech and they're sending me a new heat sink, fan assembly and motherboard. I'll see how repairs go, then send it back or ask for a second year warranty extension. Great comp, but definitely shipped with an issue they should have caught before 'certifying' it refurbished.

Got 2x U2417H's, hope they have the fix that's supposed to be available in October.

How's this for $370 after coupon? I need to get my son a laptop for school but he does t need anything too crazy. If it could run World of Warcraft that'd be cool but not a deal breaker. I've got $300 in Dell GC so I'm trying to stick with the Dell Outlet. Suggestions, comments?
