There are discounts on this? The luxury watch market has really bottomed. 15 years ago, I wanted a Zenith El Primero and it was $7,000+. Used, you would be lucky to see $4,000 and that was 2001.

The Zenith El Primero movement was used in the Rolex 16520 Daytona. It wasn't until the 116520 (note the extra 1 in the model number) that Rolex used their home-grown movement.

Now 15 years later, with inflation, these watches should be close to $15-20k by now, but they're not.

At the TimeZone forums, a Rolex Sea Dweller purchased brand new 16 years ago (16600 model) basically resells at the same price it was purchased at in 2001 dollars. The watch didn't even appreciate to cover for inflation. And if you actually wore it through those 16 years like I did, you'd probably get less than what you paid for it. Other brands are worse.

Here's a tidbit that never ceases to amaze me: My friend took the same $5k I spent on a Rolex but invested it in Apple 15 years ago. That Apple stock is worth somewhere between $300-$400k today. With kids and a family, you bet that money helps out. You could buy the same watch today with 1.5% - 3% of that appreciated investment. That watch had an opportunity cost of $300-$400k.

I'm not saying invest everything. I'm saying live a little, but understand what your opportunity costs are. I'm not sure why expensive watch listings engender so much discussion on wealth, income, and socioeconomic status. It speaks more to priorities and choices than anything else.

Thanks.
Lol you chose Apple as your example. And what about all the stocks that have tanked? Way to cherry pick. $5k investments don't typically grow to $300k in 15 years.
Excellent price for an EXCELLENT watch. I personally have the rainbow version that I got for ~4K several months ago and love it! There is just so much history with Zenith El Primero Stratos flyback movement!!!

The 3rd grade jokes will abound, but this is an incredible deal.
This is comparable in craftsmanship and history to a Rolex for less than half the price.
The main reason I wouldn't consider this is the ridiculous size. 45mm is just insanely big, unless you're 6'4" or taller.

44mm is the smallest size I'll wear, but I'm 6'3" good deal this, but not quite my style.
