I have this coffee maker and paid a whole lot more for it. Overall I have been pretty happy but it does have some shortcomings (very large footprint, long brew cycle, mediocre carafe). At $120 I can say it is worth the money though as it is a good pour over brewer.

Use code FRIENDS to bring it down to $120. Also, as another use pointed out yesterday the burr grinder is also on sale (although that one is eligible for in store pickup only).

This coffee maker is designed to mimic the popular "pour over" coffee that has become a mainstay among coffee aficionados. It heats the water to a specific temperature (197.6-204.8 Degrees F) so that the coffee comes out less bitter. And it first soaks the grounds, waits, and then evenly soaks them for the brewing using a rainfall head to get as much flavor as possible out of the grounds. By all accounts, this machine comes close to the pour over method while being less manual. And by being able to make far more than a typical manual home setup.

it does make a great brew and you're right the carafe is really weak and there's also the leakage when you remove the carafe that their basket mechanism doesn't prevent I'd still buy it again

I love the look and feel from a design perspective, it fit in well with my fairly modern kitchen. The coffee pot was a bit slower than my own model, but the quality of the coffee produced was much higher.

Wow, you are willing to pay $120 for a kettle?

This coffee maker is the same as a $15 coffee maker, only different is the "design".

You are completely incorrect. Maybe do some homework about coffee makers before such a statement. There are a number of variables in the process that can change the quality of the coffee produced

For me howveer, I won't spend this much on a machine with so many issues.

So the only reason this thing is $120 is the "rainfall head"? The $15 coffee maker is using the same thing, it heat up the water and pull it over the coffee just the same.

I have tried many of this drip/rainfall head and they all taste the same. The one I like most is the Vietnamese dripper because the coffee taste a lot better. https://www.amazon.com/Vietnamese...19OSW?th=1

I'll keep exploring and trying others see if it's better than this Vietnamese dripper. Smilie

fyi on the leakage, pull it halfway and wait a second. Then when you remove it, there are no leaks. Smilie
