I've always been interested in these Arlo cameras but the negative reviews I've read seem to have the same common denominator, batteries die quickly and motion detection recording is delayed quite a bit.

Is this the consensus and the norm with these. Can anyone vouch for these cameras? Maybe it's user error on the negatives I've read?

I am thinking of pulling the trigger as well, for the most part everything I have seen i positive. There is a mail in rebate for $25 dollars bringing the cost down to $220.

I would only use this in an area that doesn't see a lot of traffic since the battery will drain quick if it triggers a lot

My mistake, no rebate. I was doing some more research and the lag between the motion sensing and the recording can be up to 7 seconds. Depending on where the camera is mounted someone can easily be out of frame. I am looking for a wireless, battery operated outdoor camera but I am not 100% sold on this one. I will have to check the return policty etc before I try it.

Just picked this up today. Lag is very short for recording, but several seconds for live view. I think the recording lag is something that has improved with firmware updates since the early reviews. I like it more than I expected to. Live view is not something I would need very often.

The motion complaint is definitely legitimate, though proper positioning will improve the situation dramatically. And since these are 100% wireless many users can be creative with where the camera resides. My original location picked up about 80% of the people coming to my door (fast UPS guy would only catch him for a second at the most). I moved it and the now it gets everyone with enough camera time to see what is going on.

My other issue is one that many users suffer through - the pink tint. During daylight hours, the camera will have a very distinct pink tint to it. Netgear will apparently swap out cameras for you but that's a pain. And what happens after your warranty is up? Netgear definitely needs to do something about this particular problem ... like fix their camera to begin with before shipping them out to stores.

If you're looking to put these cameras in a high traffic area and depend on reliable footage, then you're shopping for the wrong product. I would say that's well beyond the scope of what this product is intended for.

If that's your target expectation, then you really should be looking for a dedicated DVR setup. A 4-8 channel system. Run some coax or cat5/6 around your house.

I have a 8 camera system myself. 3MP shooters with a dedicated DVR machine. My total cost was almost $2000. Parts and labor.

Going to be honest, I've had this camera for about 9 months now. Its not really that good. By the time it starts recording you've missed a lot. I put it just above my garage door and I have a full signal to the hub and when the UPS or Fedex guy by the time it starts recording he is already leaving. Also goes through batteries like crazy. I also have the wired version inside which is much better.

My experience is hopeless. I don't know who is leaving all the high reviews in all these sites. I understand there are not very many options for wireless may that is why.

Hard to know if all the reviews are true or not.

I probably try them out for a few months. Nothing to lose with Costco return policy.

Is there a rebate? The ad shows a $25 discount but then right below it, it states a $25 rebate. Wanted to know if there is a mail in rebate offered. Would make this a sweet deal. BTW, didn't see a rebate form on the product page. Does anyone know if there is a MIR?

thanks!!
