Thread Details

Amazon warehouse deals has a large quantity of very good or like new condition MoccaMaster KBGT models. This model is one of the most highly rated pour over coffee brewers out there and prized by aficionados/snobs.

Price is over $100 off retail, so pretty solid in my book for a rarely discounted brand.

They do not. But have fun spending 10 extra minutes making your coffee, that tastes different every time.

I have owned the moccamaster and it was definitely the machine that introduced me to absolutely great, relatively easy, home brewed coffee. If you're looking for something stately and architectural in the kitchen, and also that was an innovator in coffee excellence, this is a decent deal. In terms of actual usage, over the years, the machine was a tiny bit finicky--things had to be lined up perfectly or coffee would spill here and there--and there were little quirks that say, a houseguest, would just not get. when we used to airbnb our place, we found that no one ever bothered to use this moccamaster--it took too much time to mocca-master. Wink Also, in case of repairs, the cost was quite expensive if it was not under warranty. And both my moccamasters required service at some point. So when the Bonavita came out with a machine that put out the same quality of coffee for about half the price, we jumped in whole heartedly and have not looked back.

The Bonavita 8 cup (40 ozs, as in coffee terms, a cup is 5 ozs) sells for about $147.06 right now. And on warehouse, it goes for under $100. We've bought two of these New for well under $100 using promo codes or waiting for it to go on deal somewhere. It may be made in China and less architectural, but it works just as great. And we blind taste tested the two against each other.

A few years ago, no machines attained the ideal water temperature (200-205 degrees). So the moccamaster was the innovator for many years. Now, though, a few more brands besides moccamaster and bonavita are taking the time and expense to put the proper heating coils and insular brewing path. So price competition is starting to happen as this moves towards the mainstream. Even with the pourover method from a boiling kettle (like the melita listed on the second post), I could not duplicate the temperature retention that the moccamaster or bonavita could--and these touches do make a significant difference in taste. The other important factor (as far as machines go) is the thermal carafe. If you make more than 1 cup of coffee, definitely do not get a glass carafe. Always pick a machine that utilizes a thermal carafe.

Those are my two cents of trying most of the coffee gadgets out there.

The "Gold Standard" of coffee makers. You will see the Chinese ones say they are "as good as" the hand built in Holland Moccamaster, and if you believe that to be true, by all means, go for it. I have never seen them at this good a price.

I bought the KGBT amazon warehouse in Good condition. All the pieces was right except for the freakin' brewbasket. They gave me a rounded base KBT filter instead. It can't fit b/c the KGBT has a rectangular base. This is massively annoying and a waste of earth's resources with the returns.

I have had an org model. kb741? Everything is great except the basket switch broke 3x I finally gave up on it(the basket brew switch)

Great coffemaker.. going strong at 6 or 7 years old now.
I have a new bonvita from sam's club clearance (1800ts) that is ALMOST as good.

At 197$ these are a pretty good deal for coffee snobs. Hand built, copper boiler etc.

I am pretty serious about my coffee, Roast my own beans etc. This is the benchmark coffeemaker that others are measured to.

$185.40 now for used very good

wish I could justify the purchase. I don't mind kcups. but really like my grind n brew coffee maker

obviously this is leagues above those, but this thing looks huge and not sure I have the counter space for it
