Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II @ Amazon for $600

First-timer here. This looks like it is not a repost.

The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera has been $699 everywhere since it was announced a few months back but I see Amazon has it for $599.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...PDKIKX0DER

Camel x3 shows that it dropped today by $100. Other places I checked are still $699.

Seller needs to be Amazon, and ships in 1 to 2 months

It's sad that we can count on at least one of these tax comments on almost every SD post. What is the purpose? If you don't want to pay sales tax, move to a state w/o sales taxes! SD should ban these posts.

I can't bring myself to spend the money to upgrade from the G7X, but this is a good price on this model.

OP, if you change it from $600 to $599 (actual price), the 5 in front will make it look a lot cheaper.

In 1 or 2 months, either:

BF sale makes it cheaper everywhere else
Canon rebate shows up
Both

I'll wait and see.

It's posts like yours that should be banned, no one needs to know your opinion on other peoples posts. If the tax is high enough it prices the item very close to not being a deal at all, especially on an expensive item. Some members assume that if there is no tax for them that that's the price for everyone. And you don't tell others where to move to, or anything else that they should do! We can comment on taxes anytime we want to....

On the other hand, it says Amazon in the title. I imagine that close to 100% of SDers know whether or not they live in one of the 28 states in which Amazon collects sales tax. Given that, it is less interesting for the rest of us to know that it kills a deal for any one person in one locality.

Tax aside, this is a pretty good deal for a new US-warranty copy. I'd probably have gone for it if I didn't give up waiting for a deal last week to buy an RX100M3. A pity - the lens matches the RX100M3's max aperature at both ends while extending the tele end to 100mm equivalent instead of 70.

Preach on! It is similar to someone saying they can get a better deal during Black Friday and it is May. Sooo annoying.

Not sure of the meaning behind your question. This little camera can take awesome photos if you know what you are doing. Who cares if it is not an interchangeable lens camera? The 24-100mm (35mm equivalent) is more than enough for street photography and casual use. It's small and is easily carried around. I rented one for two weeks and found it to be a fully capable camera. It certainly beats out any smartphone camera on the market. As far as the price goes, market conditions determine that. I suggest you rent one if you are shy about buying and see if you like it. Or if you don't plan on shooting everyday (carrying it with you all the time) then renting is a viable alternative. I can understand your plea of why spend $600 on a camera that sits on your couch 3/4 of the time.

A large sensor + many of the same features of an SLR in the size of a point-n-shoot. Good for when you don't want to lug gear around, but still want control and good picture quality.

unfortunately, tax kills the deal in most states where Amazon is forced to collect sales tax. (in my case, 9.25%)
You still have to pay federal tax on purchases if not collected by vendors. If you don't pay that tax, don't advertise it.

Edit: not federal tax. You still have to pay the state tax, if your state has it, when you do the federal and state tax due April each year.

so...you still have to pay it at the time you do federal tax ( and state tax together for most of people).
