had one of these and they ain't all that, I returned them after 3 days, poor bass, muddy sounds, and the fact the insignia sound bar sounds better should give you an idea.

not wanting to crap on the deal, just my 2 cents for people interested

Hmmmm. I have the older version: VIZIO S4251w-B4 5.1, which I like. Sound is good, and the wireless subwoofer and rear satellite speakers are very decent.

I have the Sony 2.1 w/wireless bass and BT. How does this sound compare to this one?

I have this model (SB3851-D0) and enjoy it. I've tried a few others (Yamaha, Samsung, etc.) and this sounds the best to me, not to mention it also has the most features. I bought mine a week ago at Sam's Club for $199. Costco didn't have it locally, they only seem to have it online.

I have last year's model. Totally recommend it! Yes, there surely are better systems out there, but for this price, nothing beats it! Plus wireless subwoofer is a big plus!

So, do you have the vizio 5.1 system or not? Or are you comparing to a different model?

I've had it and returned it as mentioned, and it's really not very good, better than TV speakers but the Sony soundbases are far better

I'm saying the often on sale 2.1 insignia system sounds better than this Vizio setup

I have the 42" version... And it sounds amazing. Simply having the 3 speakers up front is the selling point for me. Being able to adjust the center channel for clear dialogue is just great. Plus, this is a 5.1 system, so I could enjoy a great sound true surround sound system. Clear highs and clear tight lows. None of that garbage bass that raddles, but instead it is well controlled and compliments the mids and highs beautifully.

we have the s5451, and the instant i turned it on, my wife said, "wow". way clearer that the speakers on the tv. i generally used headphones because my hearing is bad, but i can hear dialogue very clearly on this. however, the rear speakers cannot be heard unless the sound is turned up pretty high. and if i increase the sound so i can hear the rear speakers, my wife gives me the "look". i think a 2.1 is all we need

The 2015 reviews better than the 2016 also, i have not heard the 2015 model but the 2016 really wasnt anything to be excited about, in fact the Sony HT XT2 that reviews less favorably than the older XT1 sounds better than the newer Vizio, but also this is purely my opinion, im no audiophile or anything. Others opinions will be different on tastes

The 2015 and 2016 are almost identical except for the Google cast feature. The big difference is between the 38 and 42. The 42 is made out of different materials (metal) and it has HDMI support and an improved bass

Amazon delivery dates appear to be pushed back to "Nov. 2, 2016 - Nov. 30, 2016". I was about to hop on this deal until i saw that. Otherwise, good price.
