Specs look good, but price is too high - not to mention that I've not heard of this brand before this post. These any good?

Microcenters have a similar ASUS laptop with a 1070 for $1399 if you're local. I'm not too confident on these 3rd party assemblers but I also don't live by a Microcenter

This model is actually better in terms of thermal performance, but it's not a good deal. I don't think that's the G-Sync model

How is the price too high? The GTX 1060 laptop beats the GTX 970m by an avg of 30-35% on "high" settings in most AAA games @1080p, and also beats the GTX 980m by an avg of 10-20% with the earlier setup @ 1080p, as per this comprehensive link: Notebookcheck.net's Review/Analysis/Comparison of the GTX 1060 Laptop Video Card [notebookcheck.net]

Given that GTX 970m laptops are still going for around $1200+ new, and GTX 980m laptops are going for around $1400+ new, Pascal's versatility has really opened up the high-end gaming laptop market. I'd say that $1300-$1400 for a video card that comprehensively is a performance tier better than the 980m, and 2 tiers better than a 970m, qualifies as a solid buy. True, there haven't been too many real big sales on the recently released Pascal mobile line, but I suppose that's what Black Friday/Cyber Monday are supposed to be for.

As for the company itself, Eluktronics seems to enjoy a good reputation, at least according to what I looked up online (never heard of them before, either).

I guess price to specs might be in-line with similar builds, but the no-name brand sets me back....
