Looks like it now includes $45 prepaid card, making it even a better deal!!! Thanks Fadz for pointing this out.

Phone would be brand new and should come with Apple's warranty.

How to unlock this phone:
1. Do not turn the phone on, don't even open the box.
2. Go to this web site: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/?#/
3. Check I have read and agree to the eligibility requirements to unlock my device.
4. This is super important, check Non-AT&T Mobility Customer. Do this by selecting "No" where it asks "Are you an AT&T wireless customer?"
5. Fill out the form, including the IMEI number which is located on the Box
6. Submit
7. You will be sent an email with a link to confirm
8. Open your email and confirm
9. Phone is unlocked
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Careful you may be taking a risk here if att refused to unlock... Prepaid / GoPhone® accounts
Your device must have been active for at least 6 months of paid service.

100s of slickdealers have unlocked using this method, so not a risk

Agree there is no risk since everyone on thread have tried and are able to unlock using the correct method.

$45 card is good for 30-days (refill is 90-day). If this card is activated for an unlocked phone done by the steps given in OP - AT&T may deactivate the card due to invalid phone. I was asked to provide a receipt! This means you won't be able to sell your $45 activation card legitimately, nor will some/all cards (some are $10 on the auction site!!) remain activated! See posts at end of thread.

Now on sale 11-24-16 for $169.99 w/ $45 card

Will this work with Verizon SIM card after unlocking?

I've unlocked quite a few phones via this method...however I've never attempted it with an iPhone before.

Can you confirm having personally, successfully unlocked an AT&T GoPhone iPhone this way or are you just assuming it will work like other devices?

* Will rep any and all that provide useful replies : )

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the answer is yes. I think the iPhone 5s was made to work on both GSM and CDMA, but I know there are much more knowledgeable people here that know for sure. Hopefully someone chimes in.

I have done the unlock process with an AT&T iPhone 6 Plus I bought from Best Buy last month from this deal. https://slickdeals.net/f/9071207-iphone-6-and-iphone-6-plus-starting-at-299-98-without-activation-for-sprint-and-at-t?v=1&src=SiteSearch
It wasn't a Go Phone, but it wasn't in contract either. I used AT&T unlock portal and it was unlocked in a few hours (opposed to a few days it takes to get the code for the 30 plus non-Apple phones I have done). I ordered one of these because it should work the same way, but can't 100% confirm.

Even if the unlock is granted, it will still not work on Verizon or Sprint...only GSM networks (AT&T/Cricket/T-Mobile/MetroPCS/etc).

A Verizon iPhone 5s covers the necessary GSM bands to work on AT&T and T-Mobile and their MVNOs AND CDMA compatibility for use on Verizon's own networks, but the AT&T/T-Mobile GSM versions do not have CDMA support.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and post the deal. Hopefully there are no issues, but if so, I can just take it back : )

Repped for the info!

EDIT: Apparently I'm not allowed to rep since I'm such a new user...ARGH! Anyways, thanks for the relevant data : )

I didn't even notice that...thanks for the heads up!

* I'm taking screenshots in case it isn't included so I can call Best Buy : )

P.S. - I also read Best Buy has a new policy where they are charging $35 restocking fees for returned smartphones! So, buy carefully folks : )

The $35 restock fee does not apply to prepaid devices, only carrier agreement and unlocked phones.
