I paid $10 for copilot app, offline gps.

Installed on multiple devices.

Totally free offline maps. It was very useful during my South America trip.

I was surprised that it had decent coverage of trails in Patagonia.

+1 on CoPilot, though if you don't mind the smaller screen I'd suggest the FreedomPop tablet deals because they include enough free data to cover real time traffic in CoPilot or even Waze (by far the best app to avoid traffic, though it doesn't have nav features like lane guidance).
