A free beverage or food item is now 125 stars, so 25 stars is worth about a buck?

Nothing.

10 new stars are worth less than 1 old star.

Imho, bonus stars represent avoided cost and so don't have "worth" or value. 25 bonus stars = $12.50 in cost you avoid as you progress to a free food/drink item rewards redemption.

I sure miss the old per-transaction star accrual; I only did one brew per day, but still....
(Contrary to occasional, baffling opinion, using the per-transaction approach was NOT "taking advantage" of sbux. Leaving the rule and related systems in place for several years conveys loud-and-clear that the rule was acceptable to sbux's then customer relationship strategy and bottom-line.)

Yes, we all know the new Starbucks point system sucks. This is just a means to get extra points if you are already planning to reload your card because you're running low.

Better 25 points or 50 points for reloading than nothing for your reload or for those who don't regularly check their emails enough and then see this thread and say "Damn I just reloaded this morning and just saw this email"

If it was purchased with a stolen credit card, Starbucks will completely close your rewards account and take any balance that you had, even money you put in before the $175. Not worth it, in my opinion.
