Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share. This same model was a +39 FP Deal in August 2016 at $409.99!

OPTIONAL: Save an additional $25 off $200+ Purchases by applying code: MPGAMER16 at checkout and Paying with MasterPass. (More Details)
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Seriously, if anyone has been waiting for a good deal, it won't get better than this. I picked up several step below but equally great Advantage 550 model, and I am very happy with the results.
Not saying price won't go lower, but I think they will run out before they can reduce more, 781 will probably start going on sale soon too.

Lowest 779 (and slightly better, because of the retailer) was $450 + Tax at Costco, which I bought and returned without opening (it was over $500 with tax) and bought RX-A550 instead

Wifi, BT, Ethernet, Upscale & Upconvert from any source to HDMI, hdcp 2.2..
Only thing lacking is Atmos, which I did not find to be a huge deal unless you are running a dedicated home theater room.

Man, this is sooo tempting, but I have a fully-functional Pioneer VSX-1120-K (for which I said $700 five years ago). Would this be an worthwhile upgrade?

On a related matter, this goes to 11. Right?

Agreed. Don't forget about the preouts and Party Mode. Have been using a 773 for a few years now. 375/399 is a great price.

Thanks for the post OP. Parent's Onkyo fried a couple weeks ago. I've been looking for a receiver. I have the 677 2 years ago that I got for about $400 plus tax... and I love it, and still use it. Let's see how much of an upgrade this really is.

Pulled the trigger as well. I was waiting for the 679 to dip below $360 again and decided to not wait and pick this up. Thanks OP

Thanks! I picked one up. I've seen many threads on these and at $400, it's a no-brainer.

Looks like a great price, but I need a dedicated Zone 2 for outdoor speakers which this doesn't have. Dang.
