Thread Details

Humble Bundle [humblebundle.com] is currently offering Stardew Valley as an early unlock for the upcoming Humble Monthly Bundle for November.

If you subscribe now, you'll receive the game immediately. Additional mystery games (~5) will be unlocked on Friday, November 4th at 1:00 PM ET. While your subscription is active, you'll also receive a 10% discount on all purchases from the Humble Store.

The cost to subscribe is $12, and could be as low as $10.80 if you've received a 10% coupon from purchasing recent Humble Bundles (applies to new subscribers only).

You can cancel your subscription at any time once you receive your Steam key for Stardew Valley and you will still receive the mystery games on November 4th

FWIW, $12 matches Stardew Valley's historical low to date, so with an additional 5-6 mystery games tossed in, this seems like another nice bundle.

Definitely want Stardew Valley BUT Id much rather get DRM free. And while there have been good months I dont know if its worth investing into when this is little more than incentive gambling lol. Either that or being okay with getting crap. lol.

Nice that they are offering options for multi-month subscriptions. If you pay a year in advance, you get them for $11 a month (basically, one month free).

Someone said they are going to start charging state sales tax on these monthly bundles. Anyone else here the same?

Stardew is such a great tribute to the Harvest Moon games of old. If you liked those games at all, this is a great deal.

I couldn't feel more differently about this. I love my Steam cloud saves, the upcoming multiplayer through Steam, and the potential for the Workshop in the future.

I wouldn't even bother with a version that wasn't on Steam (looking at you, GOG) for a game that is so young and has so much planned for its future.

Hadn't heard anything about this until now. Did find this thread [gog.com] on the GOG forums, though. Not sure if they're going to use the sales tax for the state that they're based out of (CA) or make it different depending on where you live. The wording in the e-mail makes it seem like it'll vary depending on location. Assuming that's the case, the cost for me (MA - 6.25%) would go up to $12.75. A nuisance, but hardly a deal breaker since, assuming I get every bundle, it would only amount to an extra $9 a year.

Having said that, it doesn't appear that they're charging tax yet on the upcoming Humble Monthly for November. And according to that same GOG thread, it looks like the change will only apply to the Monthly Bundles and Humble Store purchases. So normal bundles are in the clear, thankfully.

Nice find! I only mentioned it because some folks will get hit hard in certain states. Plus it will put a big dent in or wipe out the 10% coupon you get when buying a normal humble bundle

For someone like me who doesn't like the idea of giving people money for unknown content it makes the monthly bundles even less attractive. For some it's still a great deal though.

Wait but this game isn't part of a humble launcher or anything right? It's still just the steam version?

Idk why anyone would lock into a prepaid option when they Sling garbage every other month. I like being able to turn it on and off based on my interest of the main game. I feel like that saves me way more money than a free month. And their growing addition of "original content" into the bundles is grating on my nerves.

Well, look at it this way. Through GoG and GoG Galaxy, all updates are installed or provided automatically. You either download and install a patch or have GoG Galaxy patch it for you. Also, Stardew Valley will be getting MP at some point and with all my siblings Id love to be able to play MP with all of them via my purchase. DRM free makes it easier and gives you complete freedom which is the reason why I am more than willing to pay for it.
