As picky as it sounds, I'd buy it today if it were a touchscreen. My three year old Acer Aspire V's display just crapped out today.

There are touchscreen option available at this price point. This one is is a Value for money gaming laptop and they normally don't have touchscreen.

You can replace the display, it's not too hard. Or just use HDMI and plug it into a TV or external monitor and use it as a replacement desktop.

Oh, I get it. I was just saying this would have been the perfect replacement for me otherwise.

Yep, that's what I'm doing with it now (HDMI out to TV). Honestly, it was due to be retired. This is just a good excuse to upgrade.

What's the build quality on something like this? I've had a Lenovo for like 5 years now and keys are screwed up, the mouse was messed up just months in, I've had two full crashes including one HD-related, etc.

And is there an open spot for an extra HD? I also wonder if Best Buy carries this so I could pricematch and use gift cards.

I also wonder about the extra slot. I assume not as it has no optical drive.

I also noticed it has no audio line out, does that mean no 3.5mm jack? Is that common? Can't remember seeing one without one, even the cheapest $250 laptop.

The build quality is good but the touchpad is not good as per various reviews. Better to use a mouse. This Laptop has one

It has a normal Headphone/Microphone 3.5mm port.

It's ok, I'm talking myself out of it because it doesn't have a backlit keyboard.

I know what you mean, my 3rd gen i5 laptop just gave out last week. At least your laptop still works... I am pretty sure I fried the motherboard on mine from light gaming and such. And what sucks, is I wanna get something nice like this, but all I can afford is something in the $300-400 after rax range atm.
