foscam makes cameras in China. they had a us company named foscam USA to handle distribution. customers used to buy from foscam USA and get support from them. then foscam China decided to cut out the Foscam USA distribution company. So the foscam USA distributor decided to rebrand itself as armcrest and found another company to work with.

How does this camera compare to Nest? Thanks!

Good camera, reliable enough that I was able to VPN (openvpn) and view the feed for a camera that was on for several months. I don't trust any vendors cloud solution so I don't use it but that's an option as well. I will grab another for the front door.

i have this at place and use it as baby cam. Its hard to setup (I had to workaround a couple things) - their PC application is horrible and there is no html5 equivalent.
I am still looking for a hack to be able to put this up on my TV. Has anyone had success?

What do you mean put it up on your tv? Display the video? Maybe a NUC type PC or use a tablet/phone to cast to it (via Chromecast, AppleTV, etc)?

There is no way to cast it using Chromecast. Ideally if the camera had a html5 compatible stream I would just pull it up on my ps4's browser to make it work or the smart tv browser. but there ain't a way to do it unless you use a PC!

buy the tinycam monitor app on Android and you can cast to your Chromecast...

tried that on two different NAS drives and another camera and it just dropped ftp connection.

I have also used this as a baby camera. I have thought of buying more to place in other parts of the house so I can keep an eye on my child. I like their app which allows me to see my child in his crib when I am at work.

Doesn't function as smoothly as nest but you don't need to have a subscription fee. I like it and it has a pretty stable connection. Plus you can install a SD card unlike the nest.

I admit their application isn't all that user friendly and instructions are lacking. But once you figure it out, it's pretty easy. Put it on tv? You can get the app on iPhone and mirror it on an Apple TV.
