you guys do realize that benchmarks of the 1070/1080 are compared on graphs to a reference 980ti running 1075mhz. pretty much every 980ti will do 1500mhz. that is 40% overclock and it scales very well. at 1500mhz the 980ti performs about the same as a founders edition 1080. the 1070/1080 only overclock about 20%.

here is my 980ti@1500mhz firestrike score so you can compare to 1070/1080 reviews which almost always have a firestrike overall score and gpu score. pay more attention to the gpu score, not the overall score.

Here's a 1080 at just over 2000mhz http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12443911 Granted it's a 600 card now I wouldn't be laying out 360 for a 980ti at this point 260 and we'd be talking lol. My 2 970s score around the 1080 bench above 24700 ish gpu http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7311167 clocked just over 1400mhz

It's not just the speed though, it's the chipset architecture, the future proofed compatibility, and the marginally higher price point that makes the 1070 a better buy. If you're willing to spend this much already, a little more will go a longer way. When I say a little more, I got a 1070 for $361 at Jet.
