I own one of these and I love it. But every time this deal gets posted, there's a ton of confusion surrounding it.

You should buy this if:
* you're in the ryobi 18v ecosystem
* you want a tool in your shop to quickly top off car/motorcycle/bicycle tires, inflate sports balls, or occasionally inflate mattresses or pool toys.

You should consider buying the larger one if you meet the above criteria and:
* don't mind spending more $/ having a larger inflator
* routinely inflate mattresses or pool toys
* don't want to be bothered to hold down a trigger while reading the gauge to determine when to stop

You should *not* buy one of these if:
* you aren't already in the ryobi 18v ecosystem - the cost of a battery and charger just for this tool alone isn't worth it
* you're planning on tossing it in your car - you should already have a 12v inflator as part of your emergency roadside kit. If you're on the side of the road and need to inflate a tire, being cordless has little advantage to you.
* you need a steady stream of high pressure air for cleaning or dusting - this won't do it

I bought this last year and I think it's a great tool. Used it to pump up my ram 1500 20" wheel with no problem. Takes a little time but nothing too long.

Any problems with the tool or handle getting hot while in use? I have a different brand that does, might look to trade it in for one of these.

Is this like the kind of corded ones that hook up to your battery? Or is it slightly better / faster

Brands are never interchangeable from my experience.

The one I have is not. Maybe order instore pickup and take your battery with you. Then go to the test unit and see if your battery fits. If it doesn't fit--tell them you don't want it anymore?

It's not going to fit. Would love to have universal batteries.

Does anyone know if this will work well as a "blowgun"? I want something cordless to air blast out my coffee grinder for cleaning. Currently I am using a silentaire compressor [silentaire.com] w/ a long ass air hose & blowgun. I'd like to refine my set up if this item would work. Thanks for the 411!

Great deal on a great item! Used this all summer to inflate kids pool, cart, car and mower tires. Highly recommend everyone with Ryobi tools to add this their tool collection. Its a very convenient option for adding a little air to your tires or blowing up basketballs or small pool items.
