This is an older socket 1150 processor (4th gen Haswell). 6th gen is out now and the i5-6500 is 199.99 via Amazon here [amazon.com]. I'd say the 20 dollars is worth it to get a newer processor with better and newer (support for USB C, DDR4, M.2 support, etc.) motherboard choices. 7th gen (Kaby Lake) will be out next year for desktops.

I personally have an older socket 1150 home theater pc. Im moving my old gtx 770 to it after getting a new 1070 for my main gaming pc but it only has a pentium 3258 which is going to be a huge bottleneck. Unfortunately Intel chips never seem to go down in price with new generations.
