Overall the reviews are favorable. Do you have a set? Delayed photos seem to be the worst issue and obviously battery expense.

Arlo works well for what it is. I have a system set up. You will never get the quality of a wired system out of a no wires System. I Recommend it if you want a camera setup without running wires for power or video.

I have a Arlo system and the main complaints are the delay in the camera waking up and how poorly it handles shadows.

Pluses are naturally the free cloud recording, flexibility in battery operation, and range for a wireless system. I'd wait for the second gen to hit before pulling the trigger.

I have blink. I am very satisfied with it. You get 30 days of cloud storage. 2 yrs battery life based on 10 second clips. Blink is great for indoor recording and as of yet they have not released and outdoor model.

One annoyance with blink is that the "night vision" is basically a cell phone camera flash. There is no LED night vision. So every time the camera is triggered by motion its like someone turned on a cell phone flash.

So basically you arent getting black and white night vision but rather color video. Its annoying but i see it as a plus if someone tries to break in... might scare them away.

Blink states that there will be outdoor models released at the end of the year

The 2nd gen Arlo pro looks pretty good. I have a mix of the arlo wire-free and arlo wired (arlo q?) that I got from Costco and its great.

I have looked at arlo pro specs. There is nothing different with the core of the camera. Basically it boils down to the inclusion of rechargeable batteries and a mic for 2 way audio along with some other minor differences.

It's still 720p video, still 300 ft transmission range, still 2.4ghz band, still 25ft night vision range.

For me the video clarity and frame rate is most important.

Wired cameras are still the best. I have a system running a few wired Hikvison cams. Excellent clarity and frame rate. Where I cant get a wire i have wireless IP cams. As long as I can get a good signal to them they work. Only problem is that the night vision frame rate doesnt even touch the Hikvision.

I also have Blink wireless cams for the inside of my house. Totally satisfied with them.

All totall i have somewhere North of 30 cams inside and outside of my house. Call me paranoid or nutso.... but my house is locked down like Fort Knox. Nobody is getting in or damaging my property. lol

It also has local storage record which should avoid the cloud delay.

Cheap low res indoor only and no night mode - so no they aren't a better alternative

If you change the sensitivity to 100%. Default is 80% I believe. It speeds up the lag. Mine are only 1-2 sec now and will catch minor movement on the edge of view
