This is only $74 more then the ASUS that was on sale here:
https://slickdeals.net/f/9197155-asus-rog-strix-gl702vm-db71-17-3-g-sync-1080p-ips-i7-6700hq-16gb-ram-gtx-1060-1tb-hdd-thunderbolt-3-win10-home-1250-with-f-s?v=1&src=SiteSearch

And you get the 6gb Version of the GTX 1060 + 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD
New Egg claims it has Thunderbolt as well but it doesn't show it on the MSI website...

You can add the 15.3" version as well, GE62VR Apache Pro for the same cost. Only a quick glance, but specs look identical.

omg... I am SO sick of 17" high-end laptops with FHD/1080p!?!? There are slickdeals HALF the price with TINY TWELVE INCH SCREENS that have better than 1080p res!? What the holy FFFFFffuu is going on!? Why are 17" laptops with better than 1080p near impossible to find!? Yet my goddamn 2-year-old PHONE at half the price has better than 1080p!? WHY people!? WHY!?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOK6mE7sdvs

17" is HUGE for a 1080p monitor these days! Tiny 5" screen smartphones come in higher resolutions most of the time, but I try to pay big bucks for a 17" and carry around the huge thing to get extra screen real estate, but NO! Same...Old...Rez... as low-end throw-away laptops with smaller screens... wtf?! :'-(

Target of this product is the gaming community. With a GTX 1060, you can run almost every game, max settings, 60fps which is what people want. You can find 17 inch laptops with a 4k display. Do a search. First result for me was the link below. This isn't a terrible gaming laptop either, just wouldn't be able to run high end games at high rates. If you're not gaming, you can probably find cheaper as well.

Or if you have more money...

Here I just paid $1,699 for an Asus gaming laptop with 1070. I also don't understand why I paid that much for a computer. Bragging rights, maybe?

What about this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6834234297. Why pay that much for 980m?

the problem is in a few years you'll have to sell this and buy another one for another 1700$, while for PC it will be a matter of putting Gforce 990000000000 500D capable with 5000tb DDR5000000 on board.

I know exactly what you are saying, but portable for me is also important. I am selling my like new macbook 12inch($850) and desktop with 6700, 970, 32gb, 256ssd+1tbhhd($850) for this. I hope to just get one computer to replace both. Or maybe it's not a good idea.
