this is a great deal, i was looking at buying this last week but ultimately bought a Be Quiet instead but had i known this rebate would occur i would get this one instead. This is a highly rated CPU Cooler on Tom's Hardware.

Anyone looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo should consider this just as good if not a notch better.

it's very quiet and doesn't require installing a backplate.

I know some consider no backplate a positive, but I view it as a negative.

I have one of these. Quiet, effective, inexpensive. It seems Tom's was right about this one. :-)

I have the 200T cooler that was like 5 dollars after rebate last round (I got the rebate already!), performance wise it is on par with my old TX3. I am using it in a old i7 2600K system and it keeps it nice and cool ... idle is around 28 degrees c which is pretty amazing for the price of the cooler. I wouldn't put this in my newer skylake machine but for my old machine as an OEM fan replacement, these coolers do a good job

I am sure it is because it is not as secure and due to the weight of some larger and heavier coolers a backplate is preferred. I see it it both ways but i went with a non backplate cooler since my case does not expose the back of my motherboard and I did not want to take the motherboard out of the case to install a CPU cooler. To each his or her own.

This sums it up well.

The main advantage of pressfit is convenience of install. On a good MB tray/panel or brand new build, the convenience bonus is lost. In rare circumstances a poor backplate design could interfere with something on the back of the MB.

Otherwise a backplate can only provide better contact and better heat conduction...all else equal.

Of course price factors in...

Thank you. I think I stand in the other category then. I wouldn't want to remove my mobo to install a heatsink either.
