Thread Details

Many of you have seen the thread here about Discover Card Price Matching Black Friday prices.

Citi card has jumped on the bandwagon, they now explicitly state on the the PriceRewind Site [citipricerewind.com]:

Quote :
The lower price must be published on an online retail site or in a printed or online newspaper, magazine, store circular or catalog. Including special promotions such as Black Friday or door buster sales.

Additionally, I contacted Chase this morning. They said as long as it doesn't run afoul of a rule that would discount it the rest of the year, any Black Friday sale (including doorbusters) would be covered as well.

Good to know, thanks for the info. Everyone with one of the new CSR's should be happy to hear this.

Thanks for the heads up! Last year I used Discover's service to save $200 on a TV at best buy. A great deal!

Does Citi and Chase have computer component limitation like Discover?

Quote :
Are computer component items eligible for coverage under Price Protection?
As of August 1, 2016, the Price Protection Terms and Conditions have been updated. Any purchases made after August 1, 2016 will be subject to the updated terms, which contain an Exclusion and Limitation for computer components including but not limited to external and internal hard drives, CPUs, power supplies, batteries, DVDs, video cassettes, CDs, audio cassettes, printed materials, or any other informational and recreational media. Items purchased prior to August 1, 2016 are subject to the previous terms which included computer component items.

More so, has anyone had any luck getting Citi Price Rewind or Chase Price Protection to approve claims involving promo codes like those from Fry's Electronics? Discover obviously a no go.

I did with Citi price rewind on a guitar from adorama about 6 months ago. I reordered it and then cancelled right after I had a new invoice to show them since it was not actually advertised. I screenshot may have worked, but I thought the invoice was the safer bet.

Yeah, this is what I wanted to know about...

Under "not covered":

"Advertisements for flea markets, fire sales, limited quantity promotions, seasonal sales or auctions"

Sure sounds to me like Black Friday isn't covered. Unless their definition of seasonal sale specifically means things like "Christmas is over; decorations are half off" and that kind of stuff.

Have people actually used Chase to price match BF deals?

There's absolutely nothing official from Chase that states they would include Black Friday specials in their price match guarantee. A rep from their CS department saying they would is most definitely not the same as having an official T&C doc stating that this policy will cover Black Friday/seasonal promotional pricing.

Yep better ask them for something in writing or you might get screwed over.
